| Re: Bolts-stubs? on the tail I have them on mine - they have helped when using a tail pack (also use the undertail plastic bits too) and are linked with my grab rail (the bolt holds the grabrail to the bike)
Also on my VFR, them stubs are mounting points for the Givi rack.

| Re: Bolts-stubs? on the tail I just pulled them out and matched them up with some button head security screws that I had laying around (they are just allen heads with the dot in the middle). I just left the plastic things on there though, some might prefer to use some sort of washer or something. I painted them black to match the tail too, looks great compared to the stock frankenstein bolts that it came with.
I think the thread pitch and size (diameter) was the same as the screws that connect the front and side plastics, but don't quote me on that. Just take one out and head down to the local hardware store. |

| Re: Bolts-stubs? on the tail Replace them with the shoulder bolts that fasten the front of the rear cowl.
They fit perfectly.
BTW, the shoulder bolts are the same as the bolt securing the front upper cowl to the intake snorkel. |

| Re: Bolts-stubs? on the tail Make sure you put the plastis grommet back in when you swap out the bolts. Or your tail will crack. Ask me how I know..... |

One of those bolts fell out while riding after I took the tail off the first time. I put another bolt in till a new one came in. It cracked..... I managed to fix it somewhat with some epoxy and microballoons. |

It's used as a filler in epoxy when doing composite work(fiberglass, carbon fiber, plastic). I guess if you can imagine what powdered fiberglass looks like, then that's it. Epoxy alone is strong, as is fiberglass also. But the 2 together is something like 5 times stronger. You can also use shredded fiberglass, or fiberglass cloth instead of microballons.
This info is really useful if you crack ANY kind of plastic or CF. Also good for reinforcing mounting points and worn/rubbed thin composites. |
