Re: tires

Hahahaha, yeah, right? It's not like any of the info is relevant anymore. Tires and choices have changed a lot in the past 6 years, so any of the early posts aren't going to be at all helpful.

Re: tires

I have tried Pilot Road 2 which I suppose is a bit harder than Road 2.
It is on my commuter bike and after a year of hard and daily use it still looks pretty new. It handles rain very well, an once leaned on it feels like a race tire. the only drawback for the front is that in the initial turn in stage it feels a bit mushy and not very confidence inspiring. That is because standing still up you are on the hard part but once lean angle increases it feels like you are on a railway. So for increased mileage and touring the Road2 must be better than Power2, but if someone is not comfortable with the font maybe have a Power2 front and Road2 rear.

On my RC I have Metzeler M3, which is also great but can't yet talk about mileage. I have heard very good things and bad things. I also think that Metzelers are not very happy in the sun and unless covered up at all times their qualities deteriorate with UV exposure.

Re: tires

Does anyone have good feedback for the Metzler M1's? Price sure seems to beat the Michelins. I'm pretty much a weekend rider on the road. (and do park the bike outdoors)

Re: tires

I like the M1's on my RR. They give you a big contact patch full lean and the front gives you good feedback. The only issue I had is when its really, really hot (95 and above) the back starts to get a bit slippery under hard braking. I would suggest them for the price.

I use my RC for twisties and hard, fast-paced weekend rides so I run Pirelli's. But for my RR which is more of a commuter/grocery getter I use a more sport touring tire on the back that lasts much longer and is really only noticeably less stable mid corner when your carrying a lot of speed, right now I've got a Dunlop RoadSmart.
