| tires So whats everyone running for street tires? Mine came with the Dunlops on it...but I really like the pilot's that the 929 had on it. I want to put those back one, but what does everyone feel is one of the best fits for the RC?
I will probably need new tires, or tyres at the say over the pond, by mid spring. |

| Re: tires I only ran D207ZRs on the street for a couple of months last year. I liked them fine. I've only ridden a couple of times on the street this year after I converted it back and it's currently got M2s front and rear. They have a lot more triangular profile and "fall in" to the turn pretty quick. I kinda like the rounder profile of the Dunlops better for the street. I always hated the OEM Bridgestone Battlax tires but I wouldn't mind trying the 010 or 020s.

| Re: tires showmethebombs, try a set of m1's. The stock Dunlops were OK, but in typical Dunlop fashion, like to move around a bit. The Metzelers stick like glue and warmup fast. Ron Ayers has the best price on them that I know of. |

| Re: tires Ah, drat, I didn't mention why I wanted to switch....
Heres why -
I felt really confident on my pilots, and not so much on the stock dunlops. I am not too sure if its the warm-up process or what...it might even be mental...but its a concern that I do have.
I tend to really work the corners on the street, and the feeling of hammering it out of a corner is by far one of my most fav's...so the last thing I want is a tire that will not stick, or warm up fast.
Thanks guys for the tips so far, I will be checking them out!

Have run dunlops (on RC) and Battlax on Triumph. Replaced RC with Pilot Power 2CT and went to Pilot Power on Triumph. NO Comparison in both Cases.
Have friend I ride with running SC3, and he just said he got 1800 miles out of them. I think I ride as hard (since Im on his tail the times we went).. and my tires were barely showing scrubbing.. and his were all balled up. Was worried on pressure (too high?) and checked next day. Was 31/33 so about right. Replaced them at 4100 (front) and 4300 (rear) and now have about 8200. (see Pic). They are wearing like IRON. I ride as hard as any street rider I think. I will find out if they hold up well on the track at Road atlanta in 2 weeks.
Have coworker (car test driver at our Proving grounds) who also rides cycles
and raced/track days. Said 2CT should be good for first couple track days, and then jump to Power one. But said you will NOT want to go back after feeling the difference. Wear.. ?? dunno how they will last.
Hopefully I dont learn lesson on overrunning tires.. . Kind of on the fence on where my abilities will take me, but think the 2CT's and the RC will be MUCH above what I am capable of approaching limits of... will see.

| Re: tires The Pilot Power 2CTs that I put on... they are wearing unbelieveably well. The pic was from July with probably 7600 to 7700 miles on them... Im trying NOT to be a "salesman".. but the evidence speaks for itself...
let me look at odometer to make sure Im not lying to you.. sec |

| Re: tires Pilot Power or PP 2CT? Thats the reason Michelin and Bridgestone are going to the 2 compound tire.. slightly harder tread compound (longer life where they typically always wear out), and the sides are the soft compound that WAS the whole tire surface before.
Again.. Michelins not the only one doing this.. but just honestly DO believe we make the best..lol (there .. SHAMELESS plug) |

| Re: tires I guess really comes down to what you feel comfortable with, and how much you can afford to replace tires. For ME, this was a HUGE step in confidence when I went to the 2CT (but I have NEVER used the Corsa or SC3, but Friend on RC DOES run the SC3). I got 4000 miles.. he got 1800. "I"cant afford that difference in wear , and riding behind him.. see no difference in performance . Only concern I have is track day performance, and if I should jump to Power One. Here is pic I took the other night.. with 4200 on front and 4000 on back...........guess worn maybe 50%.. if that. Just my |
