Any clarification on that? I know one guy who got a set of repsol plastic for a 600rr and was happy.
Online seemed to call out issues of places using cheap plastic, so I am trying to check on the quality of plastic they are using.
Anybody to stay away from? |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong Hey stolenf4I, I actually got a set from them on my burn rebuild... Holes are pre drilled, no need to make any bigger(which they say in some cases may be needed), the whole set comes with a dark windscreen, the tail cover (no latch attachment),undertail (with no lights) and front fender, they are really nice and come with a pretty thick coat of clear, and of course you already know about the decals. The price is great but keep in mind the shipping which sucks ass (bout 250)! Other than that I was another satisfied customer of hong kongs' work. Whatever you, keep us posted and post pics... Good luck |

Do you have the specific guy you bought from?
The link from metalluv was pretty good too.
I am just pricing them - if I get a set for under 400, its about 750 total (including the expensive ass shipping).
It's about 850 to get it from metalluv's guys, although I like the closeness and what looks like high quality. Metalluv (sp) also will put any paint scheme on ANYTHING.
My favorite is the RC51 finish for a 1000RR that I put here... |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong Is there a different body for 03 versus 05? I know the paint scheme is different, but the plastic looks the same.
Metallas guy shows 01-03 on his fairings... the ones from Hong Kong show SP1 and SP2... leading me to believe that all the fairings are the same.
Anybody know? |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong Nice I am glad I saw this thread because I really want to buy the Hong Kong fairings but want a little feedback, I actually have my finger on the buy it now button. I got my eyes on the Castrol Honda set. I actually found a double bubble windscreen from HK for 15.00 plus 10.00 shipping. I figured if it sucks its only 25.00 and can use it on my race bodywork. |

This guy wing576 has like 1800 positive feedbacks this year compared to 6 negative. That is pretty good service!
Also, wing576 states they ship within 3 days of payment verification... which is 12 to 15 days faster than most of the other guys I have seen.
I do hate the thought of paying $230 to ship. I talked to him, and you do save 10% on shipping if you get a second (or more, whichever). My roommate may get a set, so we could save almost $30.
Did anybody check on VATS or import tax from the post office? |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong i almost did the same, from my research, auctmarts has the best quality of plastic in general, however they do fail in one critical area. the paint doesnt match up with your tank...the wings are completely off. other than that, the quality is good, pre drilled, and even has headlight mounts already in them.
good luck. |

Thanks. I already noticed... my 05 has different wings than the fairings, but my tank is dented in two spots and needs repainted anyway. |

Did anybody check on VATS or import tax from the post office? | I hate the fact of paying $230 too but all together it is still worth it to have fully painted bodywork for about $500. |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong I got a complete set of fairings from China. The vendors name Brandacat. found it on Ebay. The fairings are junk. The tabs break off, the pieces are a couple of mm to small and do not fit correctly. BUYER BEWARE! I paid with shipping and insurance $547.00 and its all totally worthless. |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong I just recently got mine in, they were primered because i wanted to paint them my own way. the plastics are probably an 8 of 10, fit great, holes did need expanding, and the finish was shoddy in some spots, but they were cheaper primered than painted. shipping took about two weeks. i would do it again. |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong A point I didn't make, there are two types of ABS being used in the manufacture of these after market cowls, one is a white ABS material and the other is black. The one that I received is white. Its my understanding, though I have no proof other that what I have heard, the black ABS after market ABS is the better of the two. Buyer Beware on all after market purchases! |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong get a set from auctmart. they are the only ones that fit In my book. Ive gotten 3 sets from them, 1000rr, 600rr, and 929 and all fit VERY well if not on part with stock. My buddy got a set from another vendor from HK and it SUCKED! didnt fit for shizit. ALSO get some good header wrap and heat shielding where the exhaust nears the fairings or the paint WILL YELLOW! |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong My buddy laid down his GSXR1000 last summer. He bought the Hong Kong kit and I rebuilt the bike for him. It was stickered and clear coated over the stickers. Replaced everything in the front end and all plastics. They fit really well. I had to take the dremel to one screw hole and that was it. He made a good buy and I had an easy time getting it together. Just my $.02 |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong Just a suggestion on this subject. If you have had good results with a Hong Kong order, please post the vendors name what you received and how to contact them. I would like to reorder my plastics but I am not doing it until I know I will receive good plastics. thanks. |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong OK.......... i still have a good say on the hong kong fairings, good fit and they look awesome, word for the wise though........ learn from my mishaps.......towards the back part of the side fairings, where they connect to each other (they are close to the part of the exhaust where they divide), they dont have the heat shield on that small part. well when your exhaust gets hot(and we all know the rc gets hot), it will warp and possibly melt your plastics. If and when you get these fairings, get some extra heat shield for that part of the fairings. Other than that, still no problems.......... |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong Im on my 2nd set of hong kong specials.
1st set fit great except one hole for windscreen needed to be bored out a hair..thats it.
2nd set was better paint but they left more holes undrilled.
No matter what...GET 2 12x12" SHEETS OF HEAT BARRIER!!!
Ive had 2 hard track days in atlanta 100 degrees and the engine was so hot it shot heat through my boot...and still no warping.
(1st set warped by header after about 6 months)
wing576 is where i got mine i think |

just reading through this thread and it seems there is a little good and a little not so good reports but only one horror story.. ??
I'm about to pick up my new bike today. I had thoughts of keeping the OEM fairing in bubble wrap and fitting up one of these Ebay jobbies. So the concensus is Auctmart, WING576 or Blissstar? being in OZ, Asia isn't far away so I hope shipping costs make this an affordable option?? |

| Re: Street Plastic from Hong Kong I bought a set of Hong Kong fairings for Christmas this past year for my '08 RR. Paid $430.00 plus $250.00 S+H. My buddy that works for the USPS states that the shipping they use is the most expensive there is. The box the kit came in was HUGH! The kit itself looks great. All holes matched up pretty good, and other than a few flaws in the paint (chips on some of the lower parts and some minor edge chips) I'm happy with it. For the money it's hard to beat. The company I purchased from is an Ebay store called Blisstar. |
