| Wont run while on sidestand I am looking at an 04. The bike will not start while on its sidestand. Crazy. I dont remember my 01 doing that. Possible problems? Bike is clean and never been down. Bike rode like a dream. But when I stopped to take some pics (while on a test ride) I put the sidestand down and it kept running. As soon as I leaned it over and the sidestand had weight on it, it quits running. The guy that has it for sale knows of the problem and says he has no clue. He is a motorcycle enthusiast, so he know about bikes.
Thanks for any input

| Re: Wont run while on sidestand bad sidestand switch, when you lean it over to the sidestand and you put pressure on it, it's possibley grounding out on the frame stem

| Re: Wont run while on sidestand I can check that.
I forgot to mention that the fuel pump does not prime while sitting on the sidestand either. But when bike is stood up, it primes and will fire. Even with the sidestand down.
Thank you for your help.
I will check that and replace it. |

| Re: Wont run while on sidestand Bad tip sensor? Try leaning it over with the kickstand up and see if it cuts out. |

So I think that leaning over with the kickstand up would be a good test. |

I will check that and replace it. | sounds like maybe a dodgy connection/loose angle sensor maybe? or the stand switch like jet says...

| Re: Wont run while on sidestand There is a plug on the underside of you clutch lever (near the pivot) that has come loose. At least mine acted like that.

| Re: Wont run while on sidestand Ok. I got the RC. I felt the wires from the sidestand switch and the are broken where they round the frame. So I will order a new switch. Thanks everyone! |

| Re: Wont run while on sidestand Ok. Went to put switch on last night! Fackin bike did the same thing. LOL. So my wife and I started lookin at the PCIII and its connections to see if there was a chaffed wire. That was fine. Then I noticed the lean angle sensor (I'm guessing) was only bolted on with one bolt. So I put it back where it should be turned key and it primed every time. So I bolted it down. PROBLEM FIXED
Thank you all for your help and suggestions! |
