Have you a workshop manual at hand? It would probably tell you in there

Btw, welcome

i have a manual for an 02 rc, but i would think its the same concept..... its actually says exactly what cbr1kfirblade said, which is to pull the lower hose of your water pump and let drain, just loosen the hose band screw and it should come right of, dont forget to remove what is in your reserve tank also as that stuff may be pretty nasty in there also (big no no)

Re: change water in radiator

What is a safe mix to use to flush out the system? I have used a tiny bit of dish-washing machine liquid soap (non foaming soap) and salt remover in cars and flush it out a few times after bringing it to a temp. high enough to open the thermostat, therefore circulating around the radiator. Most of the bikes I have done seemed pretty clean so I used plenty of tap water.

The detergent must have worked great as crap would come out that wouldn't with just water.

Re: change water in radiator

just flush with distilled water until all the old coolant is out. works well for mebeen doing it for years. i also run it with the distilled water to heat the water up and dissolve more of the crap in cooling system. when distilled water comes out clear, im done flush.

Re: change water in radiator

Also, on my 954 this is, the radiator inlet and outlet are in the middle of the radiator so it won't drain completly. So I got some clear tube and syphoned it before I flushed it with fresh water. I also undid as many hoses at their lowest point to get all of the old coolant out before flushing.

On a 929/954, you should remove the drain plugs on the water pump and block to make sure you get it all out...
