Just purchased a 2000 RC51 w/ 47ce notice when changing directi00 miles

Well....I finally purchased an RC51 @ 5 days ago....and it's durability has already been put to the test....Saturday 8/13 I found myself stuck in a three traffic jam in 90 degree heat....move 3 feet ...stop....3 ft...stop....repeat for the next 180 minutes....
The bike never sputtered once....no noticeable clutch fade....fans functioned perfectly...

This bike is (for me anyway) light, nimble....brakes work quickly, gearbox is smooth...and I'm always surprised to find an extra gear after I thought I was already in 6th....I've owned five Hayabusas.....running them hard....they're great high speed bikes....so hopping on the RC, I feel like it has disappeared beneath me. Riding a twin is obviously a different experience.....it corners...it changes direction when asked
Unlike the Hayabusa which needs advanced notice when changing direction. If the RC only had the power of the Hayabusa, I'd be elated...

I've put @ 400 miles on the RC since picking it up...and I have to say that it is the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden (yes I find the seat extremely comfortable)

It's completely stock...

When I went to look at it, the seller told me that sometimes it takes a couple of tries before it will start....so I watched him start it...it died..he tried again...this time revving the motor to keep it running...I asked him why he didn't use the choke...

He looked at me like I was an idiot...

" This bike doesn't have a choke!"....

So I reached down and pulled the choke out.....

It idled smoothly....

" what did you do?" was hs next question......

Fun bike...glad I finally purchased one....

Never use my choke. It is not really needed and someone once said it leads to fouled rear plugs. It only works on the rear cylinder is my understanding and is not a pure choke as such.

Good laughs....thanks everyone
....took the bike for a 100+ mile run today...l have the typical low RPM stuttering to iron out....but beyond that, it's a solid runner....

I've always liked the RC51, but have yet to investigate and determine which year and color scheme. would like to pick one up with after market exhaust and PowerCommand ext., but not sure if thats the most advantageous approach.
Looking for low miles, spotless and maybe the Hayden Rep. Live in Ca. (smog city) so everyone please advise with help and input. negative or not.
Thanks, Bob

I dont think Honda would put something on a bike if it wasnt needed or even bad for the bike. I was told it is bad to leave the fast idle "choke" on once bike is warmed up, but on cold starts it is fine. I push the fast idle back in once temp on the dash hits 110 deg F and then let it get to op temp.
