Radiator Issues/Overheating

Kinda new to the mechanical side of this bike. After a long ride last night , pulled into the garage and shut the bike off. Cooling fans where not on, and the bike was overheating, spurting steam and leaking coolant fast. Not sure if its a blown radiator or maybe just a hose. Also unsure why the cooling fans never came on. Started the bike back up in the morning, only to have coolant leak right away from the right side radiator. Any thoughts??

Re: Radiator Issues/Overheating

alot of times the fan wont come on when its severly low on coolant... its hard for the sensor to read the temp of steam..

Re: Radiator Issues/Overheating

sounds like the radiator or a hose blew....fill it with water and crank it to see where it's coming from after you remove the fairings.

cbr1 has a good point also, if it's low, the temp sensor may have been suspended from the coolant.

also, ensure you use a low silicate antifreeze from the dealer when you refill the system after repair
