Power Commander III Mapping Question

Hello All,

New to forum. Just purchased a 2004 RC 51. Also Purchased some Jardine Slip-ons and a PC III. Have yet to install anything. In searching the PCIII website and mapping, I see all sorts of downloads for various set ups, but nothing for RC 51, stock air cleaner, Jardine Slip-ons. Has anyone dealt with this? They told me to start with the Yosh set up and see how that did. I have to believe I am not the first one to encounter this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Evan, yes I have dealt with this before. If you will upload all the RC51 maps off the DynoJet website and then use the Map Compare feature on your PCIII software you will find most of the slipons will have very similar mapping. The Yoshi slipon map would probably be a good one to start with. All the DJ maps are going to run slightly rich which is a good thing, you don't want your engine running lean. As everyone is going to tell you, a custom mapping session is the way to go for maximum performance and throttle response but fairly expensive at around $300. I am running a DJ map on my '07 1KRR with Yoshimura RS-5 full system with good results. Hope this helps.

welcome to the RC51 fraternity. I recently got an '06 RC51 and took the bike to HM Racing here in England. Having purchased Sato's and faced with a similar problem I decided not to mess with download maps etc. The right setup depends on many factors and having spoken to several people decided not to start hobbying myself but took the bike to HM Racing here in England. They really did a stellar job! All the snatching at the chain is gone and she develops a healthy 132HP at the back wheel with a really nice flat torque curve. I do not know your circumstances but believe a custom map is hard to beat. The bike is worth it. Good luck mate

S.A. Kruz, Awesome. Thanks much. I have now decided that I will invest the money on a mapping session to get the most out of the money I spent on the PC. Good advice on the DJ maps - thanks for taking the time to respond!

No problem, just make sure you ask around for the most experienced shop in your area to do your mapping. Not all of the DynoJet Centers will have the tuning link software. Also get all of your mods done now so you don't have to go back and do it all again later. If you haven't removed the Pair, either do it before the dyno sessin or have them clamp off the proper hose so you get good A/F readings.
