RC51 flush mounts and exhaust brackets

Hi All. New to forum. Just purchased a pristine 2004 RC51. I was hoping somebody could help me out and save me some time. I am looking for some custom flush mount blinkers that fit nicely into the holes of the front/side fairings? Any suggestions? I had an 1998 R-1, and was able to glue gun in some front marker lights from a Ford F-350 Dually - they fit perfectly and looked terrific! Second, has anyone found any aftermarket titanium (or other material) exhaust brackets? I don't want the passenger pegs, and am looking for something lighter and better looking. Any ideas and suggestions welcome!

Re: RC51 flush mounts and exhaust brackets

Sato makes titanium exhaust hangers for about $200 (some have had problems with them cracking around the welds though), and there are some carbon ones out there too, look around ebay

for the flush mounts, look into watsens, protons, and greggs, all are really great quality and around $90-$100 each. There are also some $20 ones on ebay, but you get what you pay for, and they might as well not even be on.

PS, keep the glue gun away from the RC, the plastics are MUCH more expensive than an R1 (trust me, I've bought plastics for an R1, and they cost a whole lot less)

Re: RC51 flush mounts and exhaust brackets

Evan welcome to the site. If you do a search for "Exhaust Hangars" there's a post I started. There's a pretty complete list of suppliers for hangars in that post.

I ended up buying a set from Welcome to R&G Racing | Setting the standard in bolt-on motorcycle accessories and Crash Protectors. Very well made and finished, $85 to the door from the UK. There are cheaper and more expensive out there. Some have made their own brackets but getting the angles right can be difficult. Get it wrong and you can cause problems with body work.

Welcome to a great site!

Re: RC51 flush mounts and exhaust brackets

rafair,

Thanks! I will check out the thread. Contacted Sato regarding Jardine slip ons and their exhaust hangers, and they e-mailed me back saying
"Unfortunately we do not know the answer for this type of question.
Thank you for checking with us and we are sorry we cannot assist you this time". Huh?!

Oh well, I will check out the thread. Thanks again!

Mark at Carbonpartz has some carbon fiber exhaust hanger options too.

Re: RC51 flush mounts and exhaust brackets

Thanks Picante,
I bought the Protons, and plan to install this weekend. Pretty straight forward install?

Re: RC51 flush mounts and exhaust brackets

Yes its easy, just cut the blinker wires from the stock blinkers, after the connecting clip part, then splice them to the protons and test them out before you cover them with electrical tape, dont put it all back together and find out that you connected the wrong wires together like i did and have to re-disconnect everything again. the instructions should be super clear.
