| Starter Relay???? Thank you in advance for anyone that can shed some light on my problem.
I have an '05 RC51 (stock) that will not start. I had it out last weekend and it worked fine, but 3 days ago when I tried to start it, it would not fire. The lights come on and the bike seems to be getting power, but when i tri to start it I get a rapid clicking noise comming from the tail cowl. I checked all the fuses in the fuse box under the left fairing (they were fine), and i checked the 30A fuse (also fine). Like i said this rapid clicking noise/vibrating seems to be originating from the starter relay. So i am curious if anyone else has had simular problems before and if so is it the starter relay or something else
thanks again for any insite |

| Re: Starter Relay???? check all batt connections and make sure your battery is charged. The clicking indicates the starter relay is working. |

| Re: Starter Relay???? gsxrfxr and JORDAN are correct. That clicking sound you hear is a lack of battery power at the relay. Activating the relay and starter are high current draws so that's when the problem shows.
Battery low and/or bad connections at the battery and/or relay. Frame ground should also be checked. |

| Re: Starter Relay???? I agree, and if you had a bad connector causing resistance your battery was more drained than charged during your last ride. Make sure the ground is good, connections are good and recharge the battery slow.
There has been talk about broken cables to, so check the thick red wire going to the starter if it is pinched somewhere.
Good luck and let us know! |

| Re: Starter Relay???? Thanks for the help everyone, I pulled the battery and it was dead, so far it is holding a charge, I will have to check the wiring to make sure but the battery is 4 years old so i think it is time for a new one. thanks again |
