| New to the forum, looking for advice.... (undertail) Last summer I bought an '02 RC51. I like the look of the Dussault undertail, but I can't seem to find anywhere online that sells it. Does anyone know where I can purchase this undertail, or is a comparable undertail that’s new on the market that I'm not aware of? What undertail does everyone use Pictures encouraged! |

Sorry I can't help with the undertail - someone else will probably have your answers!
Try and get in touch with CBR400RR (a member on this site) and he might be able to point you into the right direction.

Don't waste your time/money with an undertail, just chop the lower part of the rear fender off and move your plate up as much as possible. Otherwise you're just throwing money down the drain on something that you'll never be able to take off and sell for anything.
My bike came with a Mototech undertail (it sucked, cheap plastic and leds) and it apparently cost over $250 new. I hated it and the lights were invisible during the day. I spent about $150 and got a hotbodies SS that uses the stock tail light and is made of fiberglass. It's heavy fiberglass and I had to send back the first one due to paint cracks and bad fit. The second one that they sent me was in perfect condition, but the fit was still lacking. I just made it work though. Their customer service was top notch though, and I was very satisfied with them, not so much with their product.
I really, really wish that I would have just spent $127 and gotten a new oem fender and just worked with that. The money that I spent in the first place would have gotten me half way to a Brembo RCS master or a Scotts damper, or tons of other things I'd get much more satisfaction out of, and would be able to recoup the majority of the costs of later, unlike an undertail, which might get you $75 used if you're lucky.

Just from a guy that's been there and done that. |

| Re: New to the forum, looking for advice.... (undertail) hmmm, good info. Maybe I'll make it a winter project to try to make my own. I bet I could make a foam core, coat it in fiberglass / epoxy, sand the **** out of it, and end up with something that looks good, is original, and is cheap |
