Tapping noise doing my head in

Tapping noise doing my head in

Right here i go im not the best with engine stuff so i will do my best, after i bought my SP2 i was told the guy who had it before removed the dampner from the cams to give a little more BHP and does make a tapping noise when running but is getting louder, now iv stripped the bike looking to make it just for track days but want to get rid of the tapping does anyone know where or what part i need to kill the noise and where it might go when i get the part haha told ya i was rubbish but any help would be great, Thankyou

A tapping noise doesn't sound like it would come from the valve train dampener, I don't think. That is supposed to take the back lash from the gears driving the cams. Are you sure it is not a bad valve or a rod knocking?
Take it to a shop and have them do a compression test and give you an opinion without telling them the story about the dampener.
