| Re: Thump Thump Thump Thump Thump What the hell is it with this obsession for the RC51? Everybody and his grandmother seems to be leaping onto that burning ship. Yet the clear impression I get from reading many British sportbike magazines is that it is overweight, slow-steering, and soul-less, not to mention uncomfortable most anywhere except a race track. They overwhelmingly plump for the Ducati 998/999 first, followed by the Aprilia, with the RC51 (SP1/2) chugging up the rear. Are they all clueless, or merely expressing a distinction between American and English taste in motorcyles?
By the way, more than half the bikes sold in Britain are categorized as sportbikes, whereas in the U.S. it's in the neighborhood of 25-30%, the rest being cruisers (duh!). Are American sportbike buyers (in the clear minority) not being exposed to enough V-twin variety to make rational choices?
Let the fireworks begin. |

I know, I know - it's a bit of a publication - heck, the guy on the cover is doing a stoppie on a RSV, but hey, in this winter weather I'm jonesing bad for any kind of sportbike exposure. I even watched part of that dreadful crap movie Biker Boyz on HBO last night. Oh my gawd was that awful. But anyway, this magazine compares the 999, the RSV-R (not the Factory, mind you), and the SP-2 (RC). I fully expected like I've seen in other mags for them to be ranked in that order, but in fact, the SP-2 came out on top! I haven't read the full article yet, but I think a big factor was a big price drop on the Honda, which made it a great value compared to the other two.
Value or no, I'd still take the 999! |

| Re: Thump Thump Thump Thump Thump its wicked funny how we (as a rc riding group) never really go out of our way to talk someone into a RC. If we are asked, we tell them about the +/- of the bike. YET, people who do not own an RC are always trying to talk us out of them.
..oh what am I thinking....RC's are so GHEY |

The way she lays the power to the ground, how she is so stable in turns, the gear driven cams, the phuckin snarl of the exhaust note A stock one is great, a modded one is priceless........
Put on some aftermarket clip ons and a seat, and she is a true sport VFR, what the VFR should be Don't buy one, it's overweight, underpowered (mine makes 130RWHP with no internal engine modification) and a slug
Congrats Chris, glad you finally got what you wanted, you'll enjoy the **** out of it! |
