Does the Superhawk tend to run a little on the hot side? My friend has a new 03 and it averages 200-200 degrees F. My gixxer averages around 175 degrees F. Does the big twin run hotter - which actually would be normal - ?

My 929, XX, 1000RR, and VFR all have been around 200-220 in the city. On open highway, usually 180 or so.

Mine (1998) doesn't have a digital temp readout. But it always runs about middle of the dial on the temp gauge. I'm not sure what the actual temp is, but it most certainly doesn't feel in the 200 range. I'd have to say probably in the 180-190 ranges...but it is sort of a guesstimate still.

Does he have pipes/pair mod/evap mod and possibly not rejetted it? Could be running a bit on the lean(?) side if he's modded it and hasn't had it tuned...

My RC runs warmer than the `hawk, but that's to be expected from a fully faired bike. I defenitly know what 200+ degrees feels like now.

Check for air in the coolant system or low fluids. Check the oil lines to make sure nothings pinched, the usual pipe/tube check.

They do run a little bit hotter because the second cylinder doesn't get as much air passing over it as the front does.

This one still sounds just a bit warmer than a superhawk should be. I wouldn't worry about it too much though as long as it's not overheating. Change the fluids a bit more often, maybe try some Water Wetter(tm) with your coolant, might help reduce the temps.

I am a proud owner of a Superchicken and I am taking the thing back in the shop today cause it still runs HOT, like borderline hitting the red line sometimes and it hasn't even been 80 degrees yet. This usually happens when riding around town

Yes, the VTR is habitually running more warm than other I4 Honda bike.
Mine is middle gauge almost all the time and even at 3/4 in city slow trafic by a hot summer day!!

I guess that side radiator are not as good as frontal to dissipate the heat as they don't get as much air!?

Ya thats where mine runs around there is nothing to worry about usually in a bike unless it goes above 220 I think I was told.

Yep its normal to run around 200 dont worry at all but like above worry if it goes above 220 on a consistant basis.
