1998 Superhawk

A buddy is selling a 1998 Superhawk with 3600 miles on it for $2200! I feel like I am crazy to pass this up! Anyone have one? Any comments?

Re: 1998 Superhawk

If nothing else, buy it and sell it for $4200, pocket the difference.

Has it ever been crashed or abused? Will he crate and ship to Houston, TX?

No title... I would have to apply for it and have that headache of trying to get it... Then it could only be a track bike which I don't really need.

No don't think so... I can always run the VIN# and see where the title is I guess.

If he is a friend just ask what the heck the deal is. Sounds fishy.

Re: 1998 Superhawk

I think the title issue will be the biggest issue. If all I needed was a track bike no biggie, but I'd rather have a superhawk for the street... oh well.

Title is an issue even for a track bike. If it was totalled thus no title AND you know that fine. However a visit from the police on a stolen bike (even a track bike) could be very expensive.

Well the stolen part is easy enough to figure out... 30 bucks or so at an online VIN search will answer that one quickly. If it isn't stolen, like you said, track bike it is. Again, if I can't get a title, it does me no good as I would rather have it as a street bike

Re: 1998 Superhawk

Can you not apply for duplicate titles in NC?
Here, if you can prove the bike is yours (bill of sale, etc.), you can apply for a title. The DMV would then run a check on the vehicle and if it is clean, you have a title.
No different than the regular process of registering a vehicle, other than it takes a bit longer.

Yes you can. That is what he said I could do. He has the bills of sale.

Re: 1998 Superhawk

go for it, its a comfortable bike (except for me the reach to the bars was a bit far cause I have short arms and am overall short). I only rode my friends for a couple minutes but it was nice. I do love the engine sound too.

Wife...

Might be able to swing it as a bday/xmas gift for myself but it is likely to be sold by then...
