Need help with VTR

HI. I have just aquired a 99 VTR but rolling of the throttle it stalls and locks up the back wheel (scary) I have it ticking over at 1250 revs. Should it be more. Has anyone had the same problem. I dont think it is a Vtwin thing because I also have an Aprilia RSV Mille, No problem with that. If I cant get it sorted It will have to go, Shame realy as its a nice ride but I am an old guy who cant afford to be punted off. I also have a Honda X4 1300cc naked I use for around town.
Thanks Guys..................

Can you tell what is actually locking up? It could be the rear brake, or engine torque from downshifting. Does it stall if you're in neutral? Does the rear wheel spin freely otherwise?

Back wheel does not lock up all the time, but once is more than enough. Change down coming to a roundabout/junction blip the throttle to keep the revs up as I allways do ,but when the wheel locks it stalls and will not start on the button imediatly. I cant even free wheel with the clutch in.Once I have come to a halt it will start on the button no problem, One of these days it is going to be to late. I am taking it for a full service on June 8th hopefully the mechanic can shed some light on my dilemma. Thanks RED RIDER

Re: Need help with VTR

Sorted!!!!!!!!! Mechanic said carbs were way out of balance causing it to stall when shutting off. Plus a nice drink of new oil helped. Thanks for showing an interest guy`s. Looks like I will be keeping the VTR for now. Well worth the £155 = $305
