| starts but no power i have had the bike for a year just broke it out from the garage a week ago. It was running perfect as when i put it away for winter. yesterday the temp in morning was 10 degrees and bike wouldn't start. came home when it was 40 degrees and it started perfect and ran like a champ. today it wouldn't start it turns over like batt is low. later today when warm out it started right up. but once on the road it bogs when releasing clutch and cant excellerate. in neutral it will rev all the way up the RPM's once in gear it takes 5 secs to get to 30mph. i mean dog slow. the only thing i have noticed that is obvious is that the choke sucks back in when pulled out. any ideas.
to elaborate i have to go almos full throttle to let clutch out without dying. |

| Re: starts but no power Wow, that's pretty crazy. How did you prep it for winter? Did you keep the battery on a tender/charger? Have you checked to make sure nothing made a home in the airbox(mice)? My battery was on a charger all winter here in Mass. and I still had to replace it because it is about 6 years old (original battery) but it showed signs similar to yours. Below 40 degrees it would hardly turn the bike over. Over 40 degrees started no problem. The acceleration problem I really don't know what would cause that but I'd check plugs, filter, change oil anyway and go from there. |

| Re: starts but no power After about a year of sittin im guessing, i would drain that tank, fill with some new petrol, have the carbs done up also. They are probably gunked up a good bit. After that you should be good. O yeah do that oil and the plugs too. |

| Re: starts but no power I appreciate the info. i am going to do those things. after checking around a good tune up and new parts seems to be the good idea. I checked the voltage on the batt with bike off and it was at 16 volts which seems odd on a 12 volt batt. it has fresh gas in it because like i said when it did start later in the day, i went for a ride for about 50 or 60 miles yesterday and it was perfect. yeah i'm stumped as well. thanks |

| Re: starts but no power As far the choke goes, you can hand screw tighten the rubber piece to tighten the resistance. It will then stay open. I had to do it to mine. |
