I've been having trouble trying to get the jetting right on my hawk. Im running a set of Viper race cans I know their cheap but so am I thats why I dont want to take it in and have a shop run it on a dino. It also has a K&N filter but no other mods. I know that jetting is different according to the pipes but maybe you guys could point me in the right direction. Pilot, main, slow jet, and needle depth any thing you guys got.I went on SuperHawk996.net and saw a guy ran a #45 slow jet, 185 front and 188 rear main jet, needle depth 2nd from bottom, and mixture screw 2.25 out. Also what do you guys know about the straight pipe running long in the 2nd " Y" pipe on the right side is it a factory error or is it there for a reason like to keep even flow through both cans

Re: jets

Need some feedback on what the bike is doing at various throttle openings and in what gear. When was the last time the engine was serviced? Are the valves at their proper clearance? Are the spark plugs new? Is the air cleaner freshly replaced/ cleaned? When is the last time the carbs were synchronized? No sense trying to this if the engine is in a poor state of tune.

It's essential to get the main jet correct first, then needle, then pilot jet, then air screw.

Doing this on public streets can be a dicey thing to do (it was 'back in the day' as well), unless you have a remote area to do it, which makes dyno time very attractive when you consider that your activity may get you a ticket, or worse, in some sort of situation that includes twisted metal & flesh (your bike and you).
