Ive just got my first Blade a 1997 with a few nice mods. It should get delivered this week then I can start riding and tweaking it.
My previous road bikes were a GSXR 600 SRAD Then a K6 GSXR 750 I also ride a late 1970's Street scrambler style BMW.
I have attached a pic of the new bike it may well have been owned by someone on here previously as it's had some money on it over the years on paint and upgrades.
Yes, although I've seen a lot of current pictures and a video of the bike running. I'm not expecting perfection but apart from a few marks to the paint and a worn front tire It looks to be in good condition for the age. I hope its a tidy usable bike when it arrives.
I was close to "biting the bullet" on fleabay bike that I would be going to pick up.. but I have a hard time trusting people =) Too many con-artists and scammers nowadays for me to not be weary of buying a sight unseen bike.. at least in the states.. Sad what it is coming down to really. But, I guess depending on the price seeing her through plenty of pictures and a good quality video would suffice; again, given the right price =)
The bike turned up this morning and Its as good as Id hoped. I took it our for a short ride and it rides nice with plenty of torque, I just need to spend a bit more time getting used to the bike. It came with loads of history including every mot since 2001 the guy even included a Haynes manual and a pillion cover that needs the tabs re attaching.
Thanks, It's only a Harris fairing stay the damper is some ebay thing that the previous owner polished, it looks nice but isn't adjustable and feels horrible at low speeds, its fine once you're cracking along tho.
She looks very tidy indeed! Definitely love the paint.. not my usual choice for colours.. but looks marvelous nonetheless! The exhaust is interesting.. bolts in-place then also uses the spring connectors? I haven't worked on any first/second gen 'Blades though, so that might be normal.
Definitely need more pictures as/if you start digging in a little =)
You're lucky that's a proper desirable, trick bit of kit. I'd take it off the bike and clean it up properly, with some effort it will come up like new.
Eventually I'm sure, I've just bought a pair of NC30 wheels to swap the front to 17" along with a new pair of tyres to buy once they arrive. As the rear tyre although nearly new is a road legal Metzler track day tyre, great until it rains or the temperature drops! I will have to put up with the ebay special damper for now. That is unless a great deal were to come along haha.
