Another newbie...

Hello all,

I can't believe that I was unware of this site for so long. For years I've been posting on rrzone.com, and I just happened to stumble onto this one this afternoon. I have just converted my 00 929 RR into a full track bike (been riding on the street for 3 years), and look forward to another season of track days coming up. I live just minutes from Beaverun just north of Pittsburgh, PA, and am an avid member of NESBA. (I post over there too) I look forward to learning alot here, and hopefully able to pick up some parts here, because ebay hasn't been kind to 929s lately.

Z

Re: Another newbie...

uhh.... nope, I am Flyimports under the alias.... Flyimports.

But, I do know the Big K from the rrzone boards and on the RR email list.

What's up with the classifieds here? I thought there would be more.

Anyway, I'm glad to have found a new place for info and opinions, and thanks for the welcome.

Re: Another newbie...

That's cool....... check it out, and let me know what's next, although I already have a good idea what I want.

BMC Race Filter
Two Bros. Carbon Slip On (came with the bike... I want a full Akra)
PCIII
Factory Pro Velocity Stacks
Factory Pro Evo Detent Shift Kit
Braided stainless brake lines
EBC HH pads
Scotts Damper
Kyle racing preload adjusters
Vortex sprockets
DID 520 ERV (conversion)
Attack adjustable rearsets
double bubble windscreen
Armour bodies race plastics on the way (NESBA deal)
Vortex frame sliders

I think that's about all...... obviously suspension NEEDS work, and I've seen already that this board favors Dan Kyle, but the NESBA board has their favorites too, so I'm not sure. Looks like I'm going to send the forks for revalving and springs/oil and try to pick up a penske rear (I'd like an Ohlins, but DAMN! ) Other than that, I just ordered my own wheel balancer, so I'm done taking my business to the dealer morons for tire swaps.
Anyone got a deal for me on any suspension junk... or recommendations otherwise are always appreciated.

Thanks
Z

Re: Another newbie...

Welcome! Nice mods. The best bang-for-the-buck improvement on the forks is to send them to Dan. For $330 he revalves and polishes them. Add another $100 to get the correct springs for your weight. Awesome difference, he knows his stuff. Ohlins is great, but you can't go wrong with a Penske either.

Do some research on full systems. I think the ones that got the best gains were Hindle and Arata. I don't remember how the Akra compared. The Arata is a work of art, I have one!
