And you do realize we'll all vote for the Hondas over the Yamaha. Right? This *is* a Honda forum.
Pro: All 3 are good bikes. (You can't go wrong)
Con: All 3 are good bikes. (Makes your life difficult choosing)

Second it all depends on you, your riding, and what you are looking for street, track twisties etc....
All 3 are head turners for sure all 3 could rip your arms out of the socket.
The little 600 could probably take the 51 in some spots depending on rider.
And all depends if you want to screetch or thump
I bought my RC51 a few months ago after looking at the 600rr and couldnt be happier. The pull on a twin is just amazing from start to stop especially once its re-geared
Another thing I like about the RC is that on any given ride you see 2 of each other bike some with the same colors even, but I have only seen maybe 3 RC51's in the 2+ seasons I have been riding.
Good luck deciding |

I don't have any experience with any of them but if you don't want your legs well done then don't get the R1.

| Re: Hello all What type of riding do you do? I have the 600RR and it's really all the bike I need. Loads of fun on the track, can even be a handful sometimes; comfortable enough to go on long trips(1,300mi in 4 days) and the heat coming off the engine doesn't kill you in the city. Never hauled a pillion on it so I don't know what it's like with one, but I'm sure it would struggle a bit...however, that's not what it was built for so who cares.
1000RR is very similar I would think, with gobs more power.
Can't speak for the R1 |

| Re: Hello all Everything in the magazines have the CBR and R1 close for performance numbers, at least close enough for us mere mortals. I would buy the Honda because it is more stable(according to the rags). Confidence in your bike will make you much faster than 5hp ever could. Honda build quality is superior to Yamaha imho. |

| Re: Hello all Thanks for all you replies guys!
I`m mostly going to be riding the bike on the street but occasional track use as well as I live 5 mins from Eastern Creek Internation Raceway
As for experience I rode my little buzz box 250rr for about 10 months and got bored of the power mighty quickly I`m thinking a l ltr bike might be a bit to much power but I don`t want to buy a 600 and then get bored with it and having to fork out more money on a 1000 later on. I consider myself a good rider with a fair bit of experience but please tell me if i`m wrong i really appreciate your thoughts. |

I had a 929 before buying my 600RR and don't regret it one bit. There are also quite a few others on here that did the same and seem happy... |

| Re: Hello all and yes, any of the three are outstanding choices. Insurance will generally cost a lot less on a 600, and I actually switched from a literbike (954) to my current Ducati 749S, which has similar HP figures to the current crop of I-4 600's, because I enjoy being a more active user of the full gearbox on the track. (Plus I love Ducati twins for a whole bunch of reasons)
There's no question that there's nothing like the rush of power that the CBR1000 or R1 will provide. The question is, how often will you be able to use it? |

I'll take that over a bucking bronco (R1 or a 10R) anyday.
I do however really really like the new R1. It'd be a difficult call for me to make to choose one over the other. |

I think the next step is to test ride each and then make the call
Ohh and also get a life insurance policy, hehe |

| Re: Hello all Hey Lotus, if you think you'd enjoy gobs more low and mid-range torque (I do ), go for a liter bike (Honda of course). That said, yes, today's 600's are extremely fast and powerful, but definitely a whole 'nother power band involved.
Oh, and welcome! Forgot to greet you in my earlier post. |

| Re: Hello all One other thought-I am not sure what advice you have been given, but I was told many times "You are going to kill yourself on a liter bike as your first modern sportbike...etc" HOGWASH! As long as you are sensible (which I am sure you are) and have prior riding experience (which you do), you will be extremely happy. While 600's are plenty fast, I compare them to my motocross experience-I can go as fast or faster on a 125-class bike (lap time wise) as I can on a 250 class bike. However, I have 10 times the fun on a 250 (or in my case, CRF450 four-stroke). I have found the same to be true of 600 v. liter (in my case, 954). One other thought is body size/type-I am 5'11", 215 lbs-which really makes the extra torque of the liter bike benficial for street riding, where it isn't practical (or legal) to keep a 600 wound tight. Can you exceed virutally any speed limit on either bike? Absolutely. It really just boils down to personal preference-definitely try to ride both, and see what you like. Just my

1000's are so easy to ride now days that infact I found my 929 easier to ride than my zx2r, alot less work. But alot more power, be sensible when you first get the bike and you'll feel like you've ridden it all your life, that is if you buy the 1000rr, which for your riding has the best to offer, don't under rate build quality, honda is just put together better. And if it was my money it's the 1000 all the way. |
