newbie just saying hello!

Just wanted to say hello & introduce myself!
I am about to get an older fireblade & I want to know as much as I can about my (future) bike. This site seems fairly informational and not just a bunch of kids "wanting to know how to ride wheelies or do stoppies!" Anyway, I will be busy the next couple weeks browsing around here and researching on the internet, but expect to see more of me in the future. The only real question I have that I can not find an exact answer to is, what fairings (mainly rear) will fit my bike? I believe it is a 94' (still has two ROUND headlights) The fairings that are on it are pretty ratty so I was looking into upgrading. If I have to make a few brackets to mount it, that is okay (I work at a sheetmetal shop) I want it to look good. From looking at pictures of each model it looks like any 900rr fairings would work, but how about a 929? I have already visited the link where the guy was wondering about a 929-954 conversion but that was not very informational. Thank you in advance for any info you can come up with!

Re: newbie just saying hello!

Those old bug eyed 900s kick ass IMO.

Welcome to the board. Not a whole lot of old Blades here, but I'm sure you'll like your stay.

Re: newbie just saying hello!

Probably your only option is to check the aftermarket fairing manufacturers to see if any of them have plastic for a '94. Have you tried eBay?

Re: newbie just saying hello!

there was a thread about fitting a 929 tail on a 900. I don't think it was a ton of work to do.

Re: newbie just saying hello!

Thank you for the warm welcome!
I did a little bit of homework and it looks like I have found my combo.
I am going to put a 929 tail on it and I am debatng between the 94' and 95' front ends?? Like I said in my earlier post, I work at a sheet metal shop so any brackets can be made very easily.
That is for next winter though.
The fairings that are on it are scuffed but that not bad, this will last me until then! I got this "old blade" from a friend for $1800. He just got married and had a kid, lets say he has other priorites right now. He used to ride it to work and around town all of the time so I know it is in good shape mechanically. I sold my 92'gsxr750 over the winter and now I regret it. How cool would it have been to have both of these old school rockets
anyway - Ride safe all you crazy

peace from no - cal
