New member from FL

Hi All! After weeks of lurking, I have finally come to terms with my addiction to this site. Following the advice from my therapist, I have now subscribed in order to help with the feelings of guilt I was suffering from. (using the vast amounts of information available here and not giving anything back)
I was relieved to find a forum that does not cater to members who post threads such as "who can ride the longest wheelie, and by the way, why is my insurance so expensive?" I just recently acquired a 954 from ebay and am getting acquainted with it. My previous ride since '84 was a 1978 GS1000. What a difference 24 years of development makes!

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for all of the info!!

Yes...still standing, just a few less trees, signs, roofs and mobile homes. The eye past just north and west of here where the devastation was on a much greater scale. I had the opportunity to survey the damage from a helicopter and it was shocking to say the least.

Re: New member from FL

It past right through us, just a little bit weaker by the time it hit up here. One less tree, minor roof damage, and a lot fewer shingles up this way.

Just at my house anyway. As for this whole area, it's not much prettier than down your way.

Re: New member from FL

Welcome Talon. Glad to see another Floridain on the org. We do have something in common besides the state. My previous bike prior to my blade was a GS1000 as well. Nice bike at the time. Mine was equipted with a full windjammer faring. Quite a comfortable machine for touring.

Enjoy your stay on the org. I know you will not regret it other than your wallet getting lighter.

It was an amazing job you guys did Watching you guys leave that staging area in a big caravan was awesome!! How long were you down here? Just curious how long it took to get Ft. Myers wired again. We were without power for a week! Felt a little like Just want to say thanks for what you guys did down here.

Yeah, my boy who lives over on the east side of town said the worst they got were 85 mph winds. Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel, etc. didn't fare quite as well, but none of them ended up as bad as Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda.

Talon, welcome my friend.

I lived in both Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda for 20 years.
