| New Memeber from South Africa Hi,
Just to say hello to all my new fellow forum friends. From the title you'll see I live in South Africa which is great for all year bike riding. Although my user-id is CBR1100-xx I now have to ride a 2003 1000RR. Yes I have to ride the RR because some women driver decided to take me out on the motorway and the Bird was a wreck. Luckily I only broke my wrist and also learned that I can not fly without wings. Pitty I can't get a new Bird anymore All said I still love the Bird even in bits.
I like the RR and think it is a nice toy cause I also love trackdays for which the bird is a bid on the heavy side.
I do most of my riding comuting (100Km a day) and for that the bird was perfect and comfy gliding at low rpm's throught the traffic where the RR only start reving smoothly at 2500rpm which sounds as if a jet is on its way. Hopefully the cars will now hear me coming and use their rearview mirrors. Must admit the RR is slowly growing on me
Cheers for now and keep the rubber on the road it is a lot cheaper.

| Re: New Member from South Africa Sorry my fault, my RR is in fact a 2004. English being my second language I tend to get lots of finger trouble and sometimes my brain will hit a bad sector. The RR I got is in fact a Jap Demo import which I manage to pickup with only 156 Km on the clock and a LOT cheaper than the local ones. Been in San Francisco the other day and saw the RR's are so cheap $11000 converted to South African Rand R66000. A new RR at a dealer in SA is R115000 what a ripoff. I visited a bike shop and bought a new Shoei at half price, also a Yoshi pipe for my friend's R1 at a third of the price.
Yes, South Africa does have a great coastline and nice long distance traveling. Met a couple on the flight who were on their way to Cape Town where they hired bikes and start a 14 day tour through SA. The places they would have visited are probably the best area to do a bike tour in SA.
Stay on 2 wheels. |

| Re: New Memeber from South Africa Welcome, I was in SA for a political summit in 1998. about 35 days there. Cape town is indeed a beautiful city and I made my way around to a lot of other places as well. Welcome to the forum. |
