| Re: new 929 onwer has questions Ahhh, the magic bullet.
Do an extensive search under "vibration". There should be tons of stuff unless some of them were on the old site.
I myself have tried a dozen or so things to lessen vibration, assuming yours is not a serious mechanical issue. By the way, I still wear ear plugs because one of the benefits is not hearing that clacking sound, seriously.
Anyway, some things to possibly consider to reduce vibrations;
Good condition chain. I mean cleaned, lubed, and properly adjusted. If it needs replaced, replace it along with sprockets.
Oil. Some swear by synthetic or a blend (Honda HP4 without Moly). If it's past it's regular maintenance, change it.
Starter Valve or Throttle Body Synchrinization.
New spark plugs and air filter.
Consider a Power Commander (it may not help with the vibes, but it's a cool toy to have ).
Like I said, do a search as this topic has been discussed by many. I only hope you're exagerating a little and it's not a serious engine issue.
Good luck.
BTW, my feet and hands still go numb during track days and it's not due to riding style or body positioning. Bottom line is that 929s have been known to have a constant buzziness or vibration, the key is to reduce it to it's most acceptable level. Oh, and ear plugs too! What can i say. |

| Re: new 929 onwer has questions I find it funny that a solution to fixing unwanted noises is to put in ear plugs so you don't hear it. I've done it too and it worked for me.

| Re: new 929 onwer has questions One suggestion that helped me a great deal and that I now use on all bikes I get is a set of very heavy, stainless bar ends. I usually go with the Motovation ones from http://www.motovationusa.com (or af1 racing, their distributor). These are a bit expensive at $59.95 plus shipping. Sometimes you can find alternatives on ebay or if you're lucky enough to know a fabricator of some sort.
That won't help with some of the other stuff you're experiencing. But it's nice to get the vibes out of the bars. Less fatigue etc. Don't know how or why I've gotten along without them in the past. I still have my old Yamaha set and I'm holding on to 'em "just in case". I've made several converts, had some friends (blackbird/F4) try them out and they immediately bought a set.
I have no idea how you could go about removing vibes from the rearsets, but that would bother the **** out of me.
The "jiggy" tends to vibrate quite a bit at 9-10k rpms in the gas tank. Kinda weird, I'd complain but it reminds me of when I used to have to climb the rope in gym class. Okay maybe that was a little TMI |

Someone here even filled his 929 aftermarket rearsets with concrete to try and fight the vibes.
jumpy, do a search under "Starter Valve", you'll find a full write up. Again, this may or may not solve your vibration issue, but by eliminating possible causes one at a time, it should reduce the vibes to an acceptable level. Even in Cycle World's Sportbike of the Year 2001 issue, they mention the 929's buzziness/vibration. Apparently most inline 4 sportbikes are going to have some vibration no matter what. |

| Re: new 929 onwer has questions anyone think throwing some rubber or urethane washers between the frame and rear sets will help any? as long as the bolts are still in securely I bet it might help a tiny bit.

| Re: new 929 onwer has questions Grasping at straws here, but have you checked to see if the previous owner put slime or some kind of flat-sealer in either of the tires?
While looking at the round bits, maybe some balancing weights on the wheels have liberated themselves.

I filled my Sato rearsets with lead to dampen the vibes. It helped some, but I still get numbness.

You need to try to isolate the source of the vibrations (through the bars, from the pegs, frame, engine, etc.). This will help you to better correct the problem.
