| New 929 owner/ .org member Hello All,
Took delivery of my beautiful never laid down stock(matching red and black tank bra and flush mount signals and sliders ) 2001 929 last night with 8800 on the OD. Given some of the numbers ive seen on these babies Im not worried about the mileage. For the price(5600 alebit needing a new back tire soon- suggestions???) i was quite pleased I made out pretty good. I fell in love with these bikes when my friend bought a brand new 2000 but I had never thrown a leg over a motorcycle and wouldn't for some time. Fastforward 5 years later and i have my 4 year old dream bike.
This is my own first sport bike but I have been riding other friends 600's for the last year and a half. I was a little nervous at first but within the first mile I was really comfortable with the bike and power delivery. Its been a busy weekend so I only took a short ride early this morning. Coming off of 6's i was blown away on the freeway when I semi aggresively rolled on the throttle in 6th at about 75 and she rocketed to 100 effortlessly. Still getting used to it so I wont be exploring the true power for a while...gotta be safe ya know.
Well sorry for making this sound like a bike review instead of a greeting but for some reason all I want to do is ride/talk about my new bike |

| Re: New 929 owner/ .org member Welcome Scruff! I owned a 900, and then the 954, so sorta skipped over the 929. But from what I've read on here there isn't a huge difference between the 929 an 954. Enjoy!! |

| Re: New 929 owner/ .org member If you stick with 208's, stick with the ZR's, until you start doing intermediate trackdays.
I was a fan of 208's, but am even happier with the BT-014's I recently got. |

I like the 208 but from time to time they feel a little vague or mushy dont know??? I have logged a lot of miles on this tire on other bikes but few on my 929 so I honestly cant decide. I was looking at the BT's already Scout I may go with this to see if I like the feel better. Thanks for the help ppl.

| Re: New 929 owner/ .org member You have a darn good bike Scruff with very low milage. I have a '00 929 & a '03 954 purchased in August of '04 as still in the crate. Personally I am running the 929 with Bridgestone BT-014 on the rear though size is down to 180, & BT-012 on the front. The 954 is still with stock Michelin Sport for you see I have a Yamaha 600 as well so three bikes gives one a bit longer life with tyres.
Only put a Scotts steering head stabalizer on the bike immediately along with frame savers, & Kevlar front brake lines as I prefer sharper stopping power. Otherwise the bike has been left stock.
