I'm guessing from "Ironman's" silence that has been banned?
I'm with gt702 when he says we ought to give people the benefit of the doubt and be a bit slower to pull the trigger (if in fact this is what has happened). |

I'm with gt702 when he says we ought to give people the benefit of the doubt and be a bit slower to pull the trigger (if in fact this is what has happened). | According to his icon no he has not. As far as slower He asked for an opinion (a dangerous thing to do around a Blue Sheep) he got a few. I bet he is a decent guy but on riding style we diverge Does not make him evil nor as he pointed out me superior, rather different.

I'm with gt702 when he says we ought to give people the benefit of the doubt and be a bit slower to pull the trigger (if in fact this is what has happened). | He's not banned, no "trigger" has been pulled. But I think several of us want to enjoy sportbikes as a lifelong passion and it only takes a few people hitting things at 100+ on the street to rile up public concern about us as a group. Plus, I don't like "Another One Gone" threads.

Good to see the moderators are not trigger-happy. I'm not defending "ironman" but as we all disagree from time to time, or misunderstand each other (especially with written communication) giving others the benefit of the doubt is a good thing.
As an aside (and by way of explanation): I recently got banned from the "Badweather bikers" Buell forum (the only forum I've ever been banned from) because I disagreed with the site owner that Buells were the world's best handing bikes. He wouldn't accept my opinion that the Buell XB, while a great handling bike, turns in slower than a Japanese sportbikes and runs wide with trail-braking. He accused me of being a troll and banned me.
PS - I own a Buell and a Fireblade and like both bikes - they both have their strengths and are both fun and exciting to ride in their own way.
Sorry about the whinge - had to get it off my chest.... |

We do have a hard time with people who are detrimental to the sportbike crowd at large though. There are countless sites on the Internet and I don't think it's out of line to have a bit of a "corporate culture". From time to time, people join up and want the site to be something it's not. If you want to piss off the public and ride like an idiot on public streets, please move along...

The "trigger" I was talking about was the deluge of negativism, which at times can border on abusive. Easy to do when everyone wants to chime in. My thought is that a good warning, pointer back to the rules, and even locking down the thread until receiving confirmation of understanding would be better than the beating that just drives people away. We may never know. |

We may never know. | I thought all of my comments were civil and on point. Not to mention that I stick by them. For an example of racing on the road check the thread where someone was killed by their 'friend' slamming into them at 180ish. As the saying going if you lie with dogs you will get fleas, I prefer to avoid fleas

| Re: What is a newb? The guy say's one thing about speeding and an accident and you guy's tear him a new one. I heard about this site through him, he said he got Banned from it for saying stuff about speeding... **** man, we ride "Sport Bikes here right"? Tellin me none of you ever speed? No-ones had an accident, or wildlife run out in front of you? This is a Fireblade Forum correct? For a second there I thought it was a church group or something.
I understand you don't want the "MAN" looking on here and seeing a bunch of irresponsible BS about stunting or glorified speeding, but come ON. Wheres the fun?? Don't BS me and say your all angels and only ride fast at Track days, never on the roads. I've been riding with Ironman for almost 7 years now, he knows his stuff and puts on alot of miles annualy. He does alot to help new riders out, offers all kinds of good advise on protective gear, good "street lines" on the twisties, and proper lane position in traffic...stuff like that. He's not some reckless idiot out tring to kill himself or endanger other people. Hi my name is Pee Wee, was nice being here...Goodbye |

| Re: What is a newb? So I was right. Ironman was banned. He wasn't out hunting/racing after all.
Here is my updated version of the poem by Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892-1984) originally about the quiescence of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group.
"When they banned the road racers,
I remained silent;
For I was not a road racer.
When they banned the speeders,
I remained silent;
I was not a speeder.
When they banned the stunters,
I did not speak out;
I was not a stunter.
When they came for the squids,
I did not speak out;
I was not a squid.
Then they banned me,
and there was no one left to speak out."
Disclaimer: the above poem is not an attack on any person or organisation nor does it condone or excuse stunting, speeding, road racing, or being a squid. I wrote it purely for entertainment purposes - Please don't ban me!

| Re: What is a newb? The general idea behind the rules of this site have been the same for as long as its existance (almost 5 years now). Nothing has changed, and nothing will change. If you don't like them, please feel free to leave. It's that much less bandwidth that will be used. |
