Everyone has there own definition:
Mine is (though I don't use the term) a person who has limited exposure to something.
For instance, I might be a newbie to the track, because I've never went to a trackday or raced, at the same time being experienced at street riding, as I've logged over 50k to 60k of street riding time.
Most people don't use it in a derogatory fashion, more along the lines of a quick explanation of someone to give a "heads up" to someone else to "look out for".

Well, if you have to ask that question then you probably are one. Like scout said, but for future reference its spelled n00b (those are zeros).

HAHA, actually I've been riding bikes longer than you've been on this planet . I'm no n00b, I've done track time, but most of my racing is on the street. Not straight line stuff, corners and lots of them. I've had 2 accidents, one head-on(destroyed my 900) and one hitting a deer at 100mph. I also teach young guys and gals to ride. My latest bike, i bought it in 2001 and it has over 54,000 miles. I've done trips on my 929 of over 3000 miles.
I was just getting a feel of the forum. I've seen too many people crash and some die due to riders trying to keep up with more advanced riders.

I consider someone a newb that has not ridden much yet has the sense to realize they are limited (for now) with much to learn. I consider a novice someone who has much to learn and yet has learned much and realizes how to utilize some of it. I consider an expert someone who has much to learn yet much to teach and can demonstrate most of it. I consider a fool someone that hits a deer at 100MPH and brags on it.

Read carefully what I said. I said I teach people to ride not to race. I ride fast on the street, some may call that racing, but when you don't pass the people you ride with, I call it riding.
" I consider a fool someone that hits a deer at 100MPH and brags on it." as for that comment.... I didn't see the deer till the last second, and then tried to avoid it. After hitting the deer and it EXPLODING into 7 parts, flying off the bike and landing on the pavement, sliding and then only ending up with a bruised wrist, Ya i think it's funny. So I'm a fool, how does that make your life better? |

I got the nickname after my first accident where I had a headon with a SUV and walked away with a bruised ankle. It kinda stuck with me, thank god. |

Nope my life has not changed one bit, you asked for an opinion I gave you one. However based on your descriptions I would not ride with you. If we met with time that might change but your description sounded reckless to me and I have a no pelt puncture policy

Yes I have and no your not an ass. I've found I ride more agressive and faster on the street, so I don't do anymore track time.

Ok. that's weird but if it's what you feel. But if you want to get a feeling for the place you'll see quite soon that that's not the way 99.9% of the people here thinks. Sure looks by the pictures that you are damn lucky to still be alive, that kind of stuff usually never happen on a track. Be safe!

Proper riding technique does not include riding like an ass on the street.

WHOA WHOA WHOA, who said I ride like an "ASS" on the street? I pass cars with at least a car length, I signal all my turns and lane changes. I just ride fast. |

YOU said you ride like an ass on the street. The street is no place for riding that is more agressive than on a track.
