| Greetings from a new member Hi everyone,
I'm new on this forum but have been a fan of Honda products for many years.
My first car was a 1987 Acura Legend coupe. Then came a 1990 VFR750 which I traded 3 years later for a 1993 CBR900RR. Then came a 2002 S2000 which I still own. Then a lawnmower (not sure of the model name). Future plans call for a Ridgeline if Honda will produce a hybrid version.
I'm also back in the market for a new motorcycle. The 900RR riding position and work-related ergonomic issues are causing me chronic neck and shoulder pain. It's time to find a bike with 900RR power and handling but a more relaxed and upright riding position.
Sorry, but the 919 doesn't do it for me. I'm sure it's a fine bike but I'm not really charged up about it. The small number of threads in the naked bike forum here suggests my lack of enthusiasm is not unusual.
In my recent search I have seen some exciting new bikes. Sadly, there is not a single Honda among them. How could that be? Anyway, the bikes I've been taking a serious look at lately are:
MV Agusta Brutale 910
Ducati Monster S4R
Aprilia Tuono 1000 R
2006 Yamaha FZ1
Triumph Speed Triple
If Honda wanted to, they could easily add something nice to this category. It could be based on the 1000RR or the RC51. I'd be right there in line to buy one. I just wonder if they're interested in pursuing this market. If not I'll probably have to go somewhere else (likely Yamaha) and that's a shame.
Thanks for listening. If I post again, I promise it won't be nearly as long. |

| Re: Greetings from a new member Great first post, yet strangely lacking in spelling errors and misplaced apostrophe's.
On your list, I would go for the Speed Triple. The KTM Superduke or 950 Supermoto would be up there too.
I too have owned a series of Hondas. XL80, XR125, XR350, FT500, VFR800FI, CBR954RR, 1000RR, '87 Accord, '90 Accord, and hopefully an '07 Accord.
Welcome to the site. |

| Re: Greetings from a new member Thanks for the warm welcome.
I'm visiting here because Honda's recent direction (or lack of direction) leaves me looking at other brands. For me that's an unusual situation.
I definitely plan to look at a Speed Triple. It's gotten rave reviews and is just the style of bike I'm most excited about. The FZ1, however, seems more practical. When you consider all the R1 technology they've packed into the 2006 model, it also seems like quite the bargain.
My bigger question is why Honda's only offering in this category is the 919. As nice as it is, it doesn't seem to compare well against the others.
Thanks again. |

| Re: Greetings from a new member I agree, Honda doesn't offer much in that category. I like the look of the 919, but I think it could be a lot better. |

| Re: Greetings from a new member to the funny farm...
The Triumph Sprint ST would probably be a good one to look at as well. I know I want one to add to the stable.
