BTW - do you know why they (CBR954RR) get hot so quickly. I was in some traffice yesterday and within 10 minutes - my light was on and the bike was at 270 degrees!

If it was at 270, you have a problem. A big problem.

Re: Too New...

270?? Was the temp gauge flashing? Your bike is overheating at that temp...you need to find out what's causing it before you go riding again.

...and to Fireblades!

That temp seems a bit high, way high. Get it checked out.

Re: Too New...

Check the fuse for the fan... Should be under the seat... And then before you start it again, look at the fan and make sure that there is nothing keeping the fan from turning and blowing the fuse. Also make sure that it is in Farenheight and not Celcius. The fan should kick on at 218 Farenheight and it shouldnt get much hotter than 225 or so.

Re: Too New...

270 would boil your coolant right out of the bike. You have a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Check to make sure the fan is connected as Niner pointed out. Flush the system and refill it properly. If that doesn't do it, get it looked at.

Thanks for the advice. I took it on a little trip around today and during the ride - it was around 175-185 degrees. When I stopped....it jumped to around 200 degrees. It got as hot as 230 while stopped. It would have gone higher if I would have sat much longer. Red light was on the entire ride.

Re: Too New...

Go check your fuse, Im almost certain that it is blown... Mine was blown on my RC51 that I bought from a shady subject on here a couple of years ago... Replaced it and it was fine after that.

Better than that dude - the fuse was MISSING. I replaced the fuse and what do you know.....the clock keeps it's time and the fan kicks on and I never got above 216 degrees!!!!! I did some sitting in traffic to test it out! You guys know your stuff!!!

The red light still stays on - but after some deduction, I figured that it had to do with the fuel injectors? I'm getting an "FI" emblem on the display. Am I right?

There are wear bars on them. When it starts to get close to them, start looking for new tires.

Get into a MSF course and get street gear. And not that stunnah stuff either.

Re: Too New...

on Mojave's observation. ( though generally he gets so much sun that it fries his brain and affects his judgment. Like when he laughs at people who are snowed in...)

You'll want to get into that manual as soon as it arrives. There's a procedure for trooubleshooting the FI codes. It could be something pretty simple, like a rock stuck in the HTEV exhaust cable assembly.

Does this bike have an aftermarket exhaust, or a power commander or other modifications? (disconnected airbox flapper, etc.) That might be the reason for the FI light.

Tell us what you find, OK?

And welcome to the .org!
