Whats up everyone?!?
Check this out. I have been looking for a new toy for a while and was just out of luck in my area. After an extencive search for an affordable toy, I stumbled across an ad on the notorious EBAY ( *que the music* )
Dude! Ebay is a nifty site to find things on,dont get me wrong, but that old saying "buyer beware" holds true.... and yes, sucker I am....
found one: 1994 Honda CBR 900rr that was listed as a bike that had never been laid down, had a new paint job that it was shipped to Cali for and cost the ol' boy 3k.The painter didnt do a "perfect" job cause it had hairline cracks in the paint in a few places, had 3890 "actual" miles on the bike, blah blah blah...
Story goes the listing stated that he had the right to end auction early as it may sell localy...OH MAN!!!!!
So I call the guy up in a big hurry to find out what the price was...well,it was a little more than what I wanted to spend on a 94' model, but in the pictures it looked good, and with the miles it had I figured it was "decent".
Drove to Houston after securing a truck to haul it with, with plans on buying it. The guy wanted to meet after he got off work around 11pm, ok,sure....
Ok,it was dark,I was excited, and it was basicly an impulse buy.

yeah,thats my excuse...
with cash in hand the ol' boy was like..it's not all here

....

dont push your luck buddy.

.that was counted over a hundred times on the drive up here cause I couldnt believe I was going to pay that much anyhow

, and plus the ton of goodies that we spoke of on the phone came down to 3 things and one of the box's was empty

.
So I get it home, check it over for "bad things" like loose wheels, frame damage,etc....well,after I get it under a light I notice that the "hair line cracks" in the paint wasnt the painter's fault..the plastics were cracked
I took off the tail section to check the rear frame cause the tail didn't quite line up correctly....
WTF?!?!?!? The tail section had about 15lbs of fiberglass work done on it..geez! this stuff is just GOB'D in there...wow! thought it was NEVER LAID DOWN?!?!?
The milage was 4021 when I picked up the bike also..ok,so he rode it before he sold it,,understandable.....
WTH is this on the back of the title?!? "check here if milage descrepancy or not actual milage on vehicle" ....uhhh...check? CHECK??! A FREGGN CHECK

!!!! oh,lookie,,,it was a replacement gauge cluster....

...sweet!
So now I'm left not knowing the actual milage of the bike

,but the motor sounds great

,little basket rattle, but thats expected when you

your clutch to do

....but like I said tho, the motor runs like a champ
tires are in good shape, chain looks good, brakes are in good shape, has new sprokets (down side is they arent for the hwy---dont like my RPM's up that high while try'n to "cruse" at hwy speeds, only when I'm going for low flight manuvers).
But,all in all, it gets rave reviews from all my friends, and who ever see's the bike, runs fast enough to make my eyes wobble, and can wheelie with out a second thought....so I guess it isnt too bad .....I guess....
Think what "erks" me the most was, he LIED.

...I'm all about honesty, yeah, some may concider that to be an "underdog" state to be in,but you know what...I dont have to look over my shoulder, try and remember what I've told to who,can look my self in the mirror with pride, and sleep great when I have time to.....oh,and my friends like me for who I actually am and not for what I claim to be....
So just keep it real !!!!
So.....If I dont wreck it,or blow it up when I get around to hitting a track day...I''ll take the loss when I get ready to sell it. No biggie to me...after all..why be greedy?

...dude! it's only paper after all.....
Moral of the story.... INSPECT what you intend to buy...if they want to meet at night,be cautious

----take a flashlight and dont be afraid to get dirty....crawl-climb-poke-wiggle-and kick the tires-ask questions , and reckonize the B.S. when it's shovel'd on with a front-end loader,or if you notice the beeps from the dump-truck backing up behind you....
Well,I didnt care at the time, but who knows how long till it REALLY bites me in the rear....till then I'm gonna keep the "brain bucket" strapped on tight and the leathers zipped on right!!!!
Happy ride'n everyone !!! be safe, and watch out for the one's that don't watch out for us!!!!
