| New to blades hi guys/girls,
I've just had a short break from riding after recently selling my last bike ( due to relationship comitments and need of a car) and i'm looking at getting back into it by buying a fireblade to do up as a streetfighter for around town (eg. city traffic, wheelies from lights to lights and general hooliganism) with the occasional hills mission thrown in.
I was thinking an older blade would be a good choice as they have a strong repution and are an affordable price for such a project. As i haven't owned a blade before ( previous bikes: zxr 750, gsxr 1000 k1, R1 05) I was hoping someone with some experience in fireblades could help me.
I've heard the 98 blade was the last of the lively blades before honda started to tame them down a bit to make them more friendly, others have told me that the 97 was the last of the wild ones. As this bike will be for mostly around town i guess i'm just looking for a blade with a decent midrange or with a strong power surge from say....6000 rpm upwards.
Can anyone offer some advice?
Thanx O |

Thanx O | Hi Mate,
Check out the link below. It is in Sydney, but if you keep an eye out you can find the perfect street fighter project bike. Maybe look out for a similar place in Melbourne.
A lot of bikes get written off due to just panel damage which is perfect for a streetfighter. I have bought two bikes off them for track/race. Dont go for the ones with SW next to the number as these can not be registered on the road again.
Cheers,
