| new military man with 929 Hey you guys,
Been meaning to get on here forever, just now got around to it. I've had my 929 since June 16, 2004 and she has around 30k miles now and still looks new. I don't see many of the white/red 929's these days that haven't been modded so much they don't look "normal" anymore. I think I have a different taste when it comes to mods. All of mine have been made with the idea of keeping a pretty much stock look to it. I always liked the looks of them from the factory, except for the obvious stuff like blinkers, mud guard, etc. So take a look at my pics and let me know what ya think! I have several more mods I'd like to do here soon.
I've never developed the guts to stunt my bike and I've seen enough crashes within my group to somewhat steer me away from it. Though I never shun anyone for doing it, I love to watch my buddies in fact when we're out riding. But I love going to Deals Gap and running her all day long through that playground! I just love riding, I love to have access to that kind of power should I want/need it, and I drop whatever I'm doing when I hear that inline-4 scream.
Oh, and the exhaust might raise a few questions. I've had that for almost 2 years now. I've never liked the asymetrical look of one huge can coming out of the side, and I looked everywhere for someone who had come up with their own and never could find one. So I made my own, since I'm a machinist/welder. There were many trials and errors to get the thing right, but it ended up giving the bike a real tough look I think. Not to mention the weight that it saves not having that massive can on it! When I return from being deployed I will be making a modification to the internals to quiet it and hopefully add some backpressure/power. It is truly a unique looking 929 with the exhaust mod I've done and I haven't come across anyone who hasn't loved the look of it. It's such a clean look. And I'll have you note the direction that the exhaust of the GSXR is going over time I should have made a patent
Also, for those that are wondering, that's my lifted Silverado in the background if you'd like pics of her as well. Together they are quite the pair!

| Re: new military man with 929 Nice looking clean bike. Do you have any upclose photos of your custom exhaust work? Did you keep the exhaust valve? Sorry for all the questions I'm just curious. Are you in the Big Sand Box? |

| Re: new military man with 929 Hey guys,
Thanks so much for the comments. I take a lot of pride in how she looks and keeping it real clean too.
To answer skeeter 185's question about the exhaust work...Okami is right, I did all of the work to it. Like I mentioned before, it took me quite a few times to get it to fit without hitting any plastics or aluminum and look just right. I'll post a pic of the first one I made that was completely welded and nothing was machined on it. I'll post a pic of the finished product (which has a stupid Yoshimura tag I riveted on it after I made the pipe) and you can tell the difference in craftsmanship.
To answer Zhart's question about the exhaust valve...the only actual modified part is where the exhaust mounts to the titanium valve and back. So the valve wasn't modified in any way. When I get home I will have it apart and take pics of the entire thing to show you how I re-routed it all to fit and look good. And I am deployed to South Korea, and hope to be out of here asap!
To answer Okami's question about the hugger...it's a Hotbodies Racing hugger and I was pissed from the get-go with the whole deal because the first one they sent me fit horribly. After a few calls, they shipped me a second one (the one in the pics) and it fit fairly well except for the front. You can see how it doesn't conform to the bike's plastics, instead the fiberglass dips down and it shows a gap which looks cheap in my opinion. When I get home I plan on Gorilla Gluing a bolt to the front of the undertail that has the gap and drilling a hole through the bike's black plastic (somewhere under the battery) and putting the bolt through that hole and tightening a nut down on it to hopefully tighten it up and close that gap. It probably sounds absurd but I'm pretty picky about how it looks and I expected a product that fit better than what that undertail did!
I guess I can't post any more pics without paying $15 for the year?? Please chime in if you know how I can put up more pics, because surely you can on a site as big as this without having to pay. If not, email me or message me if you'd like more pics of it or wanna talk about bikes.

| Re: new military man with 929 Well I'm not too sure where military get signed up for that group.
Jhonda41 thanks for the comment. I see that you're 65. That's interesting because the man I bought my bike from back in 2004 was also 65. He was the first owner of it and was a Honda rider to the core. He had a 1996 1000 with over 100,000 miles on it at the time. He was on the verge of crying the day I came to pick mine up too. The funny thing is that he said he was selling the 929 to hopefully convince the wife to let him get the new 1000! I can only hope I end up in his shoes in 40 years!
The bike was completely stock when I bought it and all he had done was the frame sliders, tank pad, and Vortex sprocket. |

<homer simpson voice> DOH! </homer simpson voice>
Sorry bout that... I am 30 not 65... I can only hope to be blessed enough to be riding at 65, 76 or even 35.... and a big for those that already do. IIRC, There's a guy on this board who has been riding longer than I've been alive.
