| Re: Forum/Street bike noob I started on an 02 F4i, I think if you have a little experience with motorcycles and you take the motorcycle safety course and you take your time with learning to ride a sport bike, its a great starter bike. Id still have the f4i if it hadnt been stolen.... but hey Im loving the 954 i got to replace it |

I too have an 02 F4i that was my starter. Had no street bike time before getting it and very little time on dirt. Respect it and its a wonderful starter bike. It can go nice and easy to learn, then get low and mean when you are ready |

| Re: Forum/Street bike noob What do you eventually want for a bike?
What type of riding do you think you will be doing?
Do you ride your bike when your friends are doing something else? (This one tells alot about a rider)
Are your friends the ones riding now? (This one also says alot about why you ride)
Do you dream about riding?
Does the dream include hot chicks? (This one determines if it's the ride or the bling)

| Re: Forum/Street bike noob Wow, you have a chicky that hates bikes? I think you qualify as being a serious motorcycle guy.
If you want used, I'd look at getting a Honda Hawk or Suzuki SV650. Maybe you could pick up a used Honda 919.
If you really like the mobility of your 110 cc scoot, I'd stay with a smaller bike because you can throw them around pretty easily and they are lodes of fun for farting around.
If you are serious about taking trips, the 919 maight be the best choice as long as your brain keeps it mellow for the first few years.

| Re: Forum/Street bike noob I'd stay far away from the 919, 929, 954, etc for your first street bike.
I started on a Kaw EX500. That only lasted me 1 season as I quickly outgrew it. But, I had never ridden anything before so it was a good starter bike. I then bought a CBR600 which is about as big as I might recommend to you. The 600 is no slouch and you will have a ton of fun on it. It has more than enough horsepower to do anything you might want. Ride it for 2-3 seasons before thinking of migrating to something bigger. |

| Re: Forum/Street bike noob Jeff, I know where you're going with this but c'mon, how old are the newest ex500s?
But I forgot Honda makes a 599.
I would not recommed a 600, F or RR. They are tame until the revs go up. Very disconserning for a newer rider.
I also do not like V-twin motors for newer riders because the of the engine pulses. To this day when I get on a twin, it rattles my eye balls, be it a SV-1000 or a RC-51.
I really think newer riders should choose an inline config. if they can.
Also, I recommended a 919 because of it's conventional seating possition. And because this guy doesn't ride with his friends. His passion and the fact that his buddies will not be sucking him into a turn he wouldn't be able to negotiate led me to believe he's not a, "stunna boy wannabe."
599's and 919's are on their fouth year of production (I think), so they are new technology and will not be antiquated to day he brings it home.

| Re: Forum/Street bike noob Actually, you guys have it right. If we had more than 1 single choice of 250 (Kawi), I think it would be much more popular. And safer.

I wish they would send more 250 and 450 cc's as options over here.
****, we cant even get the mfg's to think we'd actually like supermoto!
Apparently there are so many of my countrymen buying these POS Harley's that there cant possibly be a market for these other bikes. Quote:

I know the 600's are tame until you get the revs up, but if (which i am) i take a MSF class, and just dont be a retard, then i should prolly be able to deal with it right? |

when I started on the old ex500 many, many moons ago I grew tired of it fairly quickly. BUT that being said, it did teach me many things and I think I'm a better rider because of it. The EX500 was the first motorcycle I had ever been on. A roommate actually had to ride the thing home for me and then taught me how to ride in a high school parking lot. |
