Actually, i don't know that much about bikes, and know i'm looking to enroll in a driving school.
I don't have a bike yet, but one of my freind told me that i should go with a smaller bike, like 500 or 600 cc,, what do you think? |

| Re: New Biker Definitely start with something smaller, as you'll learn the necessary skills more quickly and become more proficient sooner. Some folks start on liter bikes, but my personal opinion is that more time and focus is spent trying to control the throttle and the "oh ****" moments rather than focusing on proper techniques such as counter-steering, braking, cornering, etc.
Good bikes to start on (assuming you want something more sporty, not a cruiser) would be: Ninja 500 (or even the 250), Suzuki GS500, Suzuki SV650. |

| Re: New Biker Take an MSF class, start with small bike(no more than 500cc), and find an experienced riding partner that rides with some common sense. |

msf class is a must, especially if you have not been on a bike before. as far as size, i am staying out of that one. |

| Re: New Biker Those pics make it look like those are replacement plastics on the bike. My bro in law paid $3K for a zero mile '06 Ninja 250R so to me $2k for an '01 that looks like it might have gone down seems pretty high but I haven't researched them enough to say any more than that. He loves his bike though and it has turned into a great beginner bike for him.

BTW - welcome.

Take someone with you with legitimate mechanical knowlege of motorcycles to test ride(if allowable) and look over the machine before you buy. Many happy miles to ya!!! |
