| Finally / Gallery I finally remembered my paypal password so I was able to become official. I figured that I should commemorate the occasion by actually posting some pics of my rides in my gallery. Hope y'all enjoy. |

| Re: Finally / Gallery Nice bike.. ..like your "other ride" also. I have a 3 Walkers, a Paint, a Bay Quarter, and Arabian, a Quarter Pony, and 3 minis myself. Of course, I can't really ride the mini's......I'm 6'5"...lol. For my youngest daughter. |

| Re: Finally / Gallery We have two Arabians, the Arab/Andalusian, also a Bay Quarter, and a monster Paint that we use for Roping (his head shows in one picture). I've always wanted to ride a Walker, I've heard that once I try I might not go back. I also want a race bred Thouroughbred. My mom wants to get some minis for the grandkids now that the oldest one is four. My dad says that he never rode a mini when he was four so they can deal with it. I was given an Appaloosa for my 2nd B-Day so I skipped the minis as well. I think my mom might win on this one though.

| Re: Finally / Gallery Was riding a thoroughbred in a pasture just for some easy riding, it decided we were either going through the barbwire fence or through the gate... we chose the gate. Once in the open it rared up I lost the rains, grabbed the main of the horse (putting myself in jockey position) to not fall off when it came back down, horse took off like a bullet until it saw a huge puddle of water. breaked and cut to the right I went straight over its head nicked a tree on the way down tore my arm to hell and back (from the tree) dug a nice new ditch with my head(didn't really need one there). All said and done, one long night of digging bark out of my arm and side many many bruised muscles and I have never been on a horse since and don't plan on it.
Yes I realize that it was probably all my fault that the horse acted in this manner but that still won't convince me to get back on |

| Re: Finally / Gallery Horses are much more dangerous than motorcycles. IMHO. Much less predictable. I've had a lot more serious injuries from my horses than I ever have had from a bike. I'll probably get blindsided by soccer mom the next time on I'm my bike just because I said that though. I still love the horse anyway and they get me to some places that you couldn't even consider on an ATV or dirtbike. Everything has it's time and place.

| Re: Finally / Gallery My youngest daughter learned to ride on our first mini. She was great for that. Now that she has grown, the mini's are just for breeding. We have the mother and two daughters that we breed. They can bring in some good money, if you watch your bloodlines.
As for the Walkers, yep.....rode one, never went back. Mine is named Slingshot. I went to try him out, and of course this "woman" owned him. She told me...."you don't have to kick him or kiss, just nudge him a little to go. He's very sensitive"......and I'm thinkin'....yea right lady, I know what I am doing.
Well...... ...long story short, I kicked and kissed and we took off down a gravel drive like a rocket, and I went out of the saddle and ended up on his butt! All I could do is turn around and yell "I want him" to my wife....hence where the name Slingshot came from.....my oldest now is using him for barrels.
Walkers are very smooth gaited. The only other horse I rode that was so smooth was a 19.3 hand work horse.....that was awsome! He was too big to really get us into trouble, he couldn't really run, only trot, but that is plenty fast on one that big. I may end up buying him just to have for parades and such that we sometimes enter.
Tell your mom good luck. They really are fun to have around. A lot of personality to them.. |
