| New to the Forum. Hello to everyone. I've been a fan of this forum for two yrs. I've heard all the horror stories of newbies and stuff like. So even before I brought a bike I took the Motorcycle Safety Course. I was ready to buy a bike that I had to take a step back a realized all the advice the forum has given to people like me. Then I sucked it up and brought me a 250 Ninja. As little as that bike was I still had a some minor cuts and bruises. I stepped my game up and now I'm riding a '01 CBR f4i, no stratches or bruises... I'm open to any advice or suggestions on improving the bike or myself. |

| Re: New to the Forum. You did the smart thing by taking the course and getting a smaller first bike. The first thing I usually recommend as a purchase for a bike is a good set of frame sliders. And before you buy much of anything for the bike, make sure you have a good helmet, jacket, gloves, etc to protect yourself. |

| Re: New to the Forum. I already got a Joe Rocket honda jacket, Alpinestars glove with some hard plastic on the top and HJC helmet. I'll definetly look into getting some sliders thought. I in limbo in getting plastic or metal ?? Quote:

| Re: New to the Forum. I brought the bike second hand from a co-worker. It has an intergrated taillight and sport front blinkers. I would like to get a better taillight cause you can't see the signal lights at day time. I would also like to get an EK or DID red chain and an exhaust. |

| Re: New to the Forum. Good for you, starting on something smaller. You'll be a much safer, more proficient rider as a result. Kudos.
Get some pants to go with your jacket. Jeans don't hold up in a crash. Get some motorcycle riding boots, too, if you haven't already.
As far as frame sliders, get the "plastic" ones, which are delrin. They slide the best. Other improvements...I don't think the F4i needs a damper like the 929/954, but it can't hurt. Lots of good choices for exhausts. Do you just want a slip-on? Micron, Akropovic, Hindle, to name a few.
To improve yourself? After you've got a good season under your belt, take a track school! |

In England we have power courses for advanced rider training. You may want to do one if they have something similar in your neck of the woods. It's a great way to meet new friend as well. |

| Re: New to the Forum. You may want to replace the original brake hoses with steel braided brake hoses. Uprateing your brakes is one of the best performance mods you can make. |
