| Great site! Hello Everyone!
I want to say that this is a great site! I have been riding since I was 14, but mainly cruisers. I have an '03 HD Deuce and just bought an 02' 954RR. I ride with a group called Gypsy M/C. I'm very excited about my new bike, but feel very lost. I know that riding this bike is considerably different than the cruiser. I need some basic suggestions for a new rider. Things like personal protective equiment recommendations and add ons for the bike.
This site has been a great resource for me so far. I didn't know what a steering dampener was until I started reading about it here. Based on what I read, I bought a Scotts Steering Dampener and will install it when I get home.
I also bought a Freestyle Ingenuity Honda Engine Cage to install on it. I'm not planning on wheelies and stunts, but I want to protect the bike from being knocked over and damaged. On that note, does anyone know of a school in Texas where you can learn to ride better?
Thank you to everyone for making this a great site! I would really like to be involved in the community. If anyone lives near Austin, I'd love to hook up to go riding!
Thanks!
Time Out

I think that it will be a while until I'm aggressively cornering, though. Until then, I'll keep the cage on. There's more of a chance that I'll knock the bike over than touching my knee on a turn at the moment.
Thanks again! |

If you can get to Oklahoma, check out Hallett Motor Racing Circuit http://www.hallettracing.net/ at Jennings, OK (about 50 miles west of Tulsa). They have motorcycle races, and also have motorcycle track days where anyone can ride in an group appropriate for their skill level. Quote:

Bill | What is the difference between frame sliders and the freestyle cage? Just the bar going around the bike? Are the two parts that stick out away from the bike frame sliders? Maybe I can just install them. Here's the link to what I bought... The Stunt Stop - The Stunt Rider Superstore.
Thanks again!

| Re: Great site! The two parts that stick out from the bike with that cage could be considered frame sliders, but they're so long I'd be worried about them snapping off in a slide. The cage can protect your bike under certain circumstances, but the cornering clearance is a lot less than you might think...you decide.

The cage will probably do more harm then good if you are riding even remotely hard on the street.
As far as schools go.... check out a track school or even a regular track day... (they will probably tell you to take off the cage also)
Well worth the money if you want to really see what your motorcycle is capable of.
Oh and to da org
