| New member-Can anyone HELP me? First, this is a cool site, but I do have a problem with my 98 Superhawk. Here is the scoop. Riding home on the freeway, I look down at the instrument cluster & tach, odom, & speedometer are dead. I was 12 miles from home, but bike was running fine. Blinkers were "very" low. I take the off ramp & at 2k rpm the bike dies. No electrical, so i shut off the key & wait 5 min or so & turn on key(pwr) & the lights now work, but not enough juice to start bike. Guy jump starts me & off i go, but after riding for 3 minutes the speedometer dies first, then 15 seconds later the tach dies, then 10 seconds later the odom dies. I keep the rpm around 3k & barely make it to my house 2miles away before it dies in the driveway. (It back fired (small) at the end) I left it turned off for 1hr, but no battery pwr this time. Background: Since i have owned the bike (4yrs) the instrument back lights are weak, (some lights burned out or not in.)but the last week or so I noticed that the instrument panel lights have been brighter at times. (not sure if this could be part of the problem.) The bike has 22k miles. Help plz and thank you to all who respond. |
