I just picked up a new one for $9400. The sticker suggested $11,500, but with the 08s on the horizon dealers are dealing.

I was at a dealer today and he told me that the 08s will not be available until March 2008. The list will be $11,600. This is in Albuquerque NM. How willing the dealers will be to deal will depend on the demand.

im only 16 but i love bikes i nearly bought one the other night for £300.00 400cc CBR no damage apart from cracked back panel but he sold it to his mate for £500.00 i want a bigger bike so bad when can i get a descent one cheap from? and what would be a good bike to buy?

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but before we even start discussing bike prices, you will need to have a full license, fully comp insurance and some experience behind you before you can even start looking for a 1k CBR.

I would say let your dreams stay there, mine had to for a while. I take it you have a provisional licence for a motorcycle? You will need to first pass your test, then get insurance… That will basically cost more than the bikes you are looking at.

My advice is to start on a small bike – I think the laws in the UK have come out now saying that you can’t ride a bike over 125CC for a certain period (maybe two years or so) so that will put your dreams on hold.

I'm sorry if I have come over as being harsh, but I have seen SO many youngsters have big dreams of having so much power between their legs that they go into a daze and get a 150BHP bike and kill themselves.

I say start on a small bike, even a CBR125 and build yourself up – if you don’t kill yourself now, you will have you whole life ahead of you to play with big bikes. Also your scooter and other bikes you will have will teach you different things than you would learn from jumping straight on a 1k bike...
