before that and so on:
2001 cbr929rr
2004 cbr600rr
2000 yzf r6
2001 yzf r6
2000 yzf r6
I'm currently on my sixth bike, which my parents aren't aware of HAHAHA
I'm from SF, but I live in San Jose right now. I live right next to the Great Mall of Milpitas, but on the San Jose side.
btw, if anyone's local and with a 954, would you mind meeting me up and checking out my bike? I've got a ticking sound that a lot of people are saying is normal. Guess I just want a real opinion, after hearing it. |

| Re: wassup from the bay area (ca, usa) The ticking is usual - i get it some days too.
I dont usually hear it unless im idle and stationary, the 954s do have thin engine casing (reduces weight but increase in noise).

| Re: wassup from the bay area (ca, usa) I also get the ticking but only at idle and yes you can hear it over the exhaust.
unless there are 16000 miles on it don't waste you time checking the valve's most likely they will not be out of spec the engine just likes to make nosie.
Like twincam said the cases are thin. |

| Re: wassup from the bay area (ca, usa) Welcome Perf. I used to live in Pleasanton. I took some great rides up the coast. Cross the Golden Gate, drop down into Stinson, and up 1 as far as you can go. I really miss the coast rides. No ocean in New Mexico |

| Re: wassup from the bay area (ca, usa) thanks for the welcomes fellas.
but yeah, as for my bike, i've got 23500 on it. I've had it since about 20k, and I don't think the previous owner did a 20k on the bike. I really don't wanna do the valves myself so I figure I'm going to have a shop do it. Any idea what that runs? |

| Re: wassup from the bay area (ca, usa) Welcome to the forum brother. I'm down in Dublin/Pleasanton one weekend each month, one of these times I might hit you up and cruise down to San Jose to check out your blade dude. |

| Re: wassup from the bay area (ca, usa) Im on 19000Miles at the moment, the valves will need to be adjusted and i will be booking it in for the major service etc soon,
But the tapping of the valves are common, unless it is making so much noise you cant hear the exhaust (is yours stock?) then i would get it checked out.

I can hear the ticking when I'm cruising. I'm no bike mechanic, but I really don't like that sound. I know it'll take a few hours to check my valves clearances, but I just don't want to do it myself. I also have a new cct (cam chain tensioner for those who don't know) but I couldn't get to one bolt.
anyway, to stay 'on topic' thanks for the welcomes again. anyone down to go for a ride sometime next week? SJSU is on spring break, and its about the right weather for some riding.... |

| Re: wassup from the bay area (ca, usa) Hmm...
Mine gets covered up when im cruising (Micron Carbon Race Can) - i hear it the most when im stationary in neutral at the lights etc
Might just need a general check up and adjustment (while its all open you might as well replace the other parts (if needed) - no point having to strip it down twice)
