Re: 2008 cbr paint help?

Wow.... I have had clearcoat issues and of course the lower exhaust issue.. Seems like Honda has slacked on the quality this time.. Out of all my other Honda's I have had, I never had issues like this.. Honda's are known for excellent fit and finish, far better than most durability.. I have heard alot of complaints about quality issues..

Re: 2008 cbr paint help?

Pull bodywork, take to painters, have them add 2-3 coats of clear.

It wasn't my thread, but why duplicate. I always search first and then ask.

Well you can have a cheap bike (in cost) or you can have it deluxe. The dollar has tanked if you haven't noticed. I'm sure they decided to perform cost cutting measures to keep the price of the bike down.

Doesn't hold water, what about the rest of the world? The dollar has no impact to bikes being sold in Europe.

You should ask and find out if their clear is coming off the tank easily. I already posted in the other thread what is going on. You can either believe it or not. Honda stated their #1 goal with this bike was to keep the price as close to the outgoing model as possible. Looks like they achieved that

Deez,

You are missing the point and all of your posts do not think on a global scale.

1) You mention the EPA and paint. The bikes are manufactured in Japan and the EPA is a US gov't entity.

2) You mention the weak dollar. What does that have to do with paint problems in Europe?

Both of those statements do not factor in having nothing to do on a global scale.

?
Of course they do. You think Japan is skipping out on the green deal? Every mfr out there is doing water based paint and doing the Eco-friendly bs. Hell, Honda is the biggest supporter of that ****. I've heard the same paint complaints from Bimmer owners, every make of Japanese cars, on and on. They are all doing it.

The weak dollar? The US is huge, and a big market for Honda for this bike.
One of their engineers admitted at rollout, that their main goal on this bike was to keep the cost as close to the outgoing model as possible. The Japanese are stuck on this 10k number and are very hesitant about increasing the price more than it already is. With the dollar tanking, which affects the global economy, not just our own, they cut corners, in regards to dollars, wherever they could. You've got one of these bikes right? Have you taken your fairings off yet? Pull the upper off, it's almost paper thin. The total area of the fairings on this bike are 50% of the previous model (rough guess), and they are thinner. They did this to save weight and save $. All I'm saying is that none of this paint BS is all that surprising. Do the math.
