Back fire and Pop!

Hi I have a 900Blade (98) and I am now starting to get a poping sound when I pull of the throttle and poping when I increase the throttle. The bike was resently tuned and they have done a great job on the overall performance and control- The Poping noise on throttle disapeared after the tuning but then came back! I took the bike back and they increased the fuel on the throttle off, but still its there.. Last night I checked the exhaust and silencer and there is air comming out between the Exhaust and silencer - could this of been the main source of my issues.

The problem I have is that the joining bolts are on tight bu there are still gaps, so will have to see about getting an extra gasket!

you can try using some copper RTV gasket maker on the joint.

Re: Back fire and Pop!

Cheers CBR929RE,

Well, we have taken the silencer off and brushed the excess grim away from both the exhaust and silencer and shaped the ends so there was a tight fit. I also used a exhaust gasget seal which has sealed the connection tightly and no air is escaping.

However, the issue is still there and its still poping on throttle of and back fireing over 2500 revs, so just thinking if it is the HT Leads or sparke plugs need looking at as the carbs, filters and lines had been tuned..
