| New Blader and member, London Hello everyone,
Guess what? I'm picking a new 2008 Fireblade up tomorrow and I can not wait! I have just sold Buell XB12s and whilst I will always love Buells I have just had enough of them.
I had a son 5 months ago and need a reliable bike - then the 2008 Fireblade appeared and whilst I read on here that a lot of people (initally at least) found it's look to be a little 'ugly' I on the other hand fell in love with it.
Eventually I made my mind up - while the wife is in Sardinia I decided to buy one, and I collect it tomorrow.
I test rode one on Saturday, and also a CBR 600 RR - which I LOVED - but I felt that the Fireblade was a little more sophisticated - sorry no offense - but that if I bought the 600 I'd ride it FAST all the time, with the blade I felt I had a lot more respect for it.
Anyway, enough of my blurb, I'm off to read your posts!
Good to meet you all!
Stuart |

| Re: New Blader and member, London Yeah - I guessed the B & W ones had to be faster, otherwise what'd be the point ;-) Seriously I *loved* the B&W bike, it was teh first colour I saw, but the candy red just got me in a "funny" kinda way...
I'm from Muswell Hill in N London Twincam, thanks for the welcome guys! |

| Re: New Blader and member, London Hey Y'all, thanks for the hello's and welcomes, sorry to have not replied sooner but had to pop out to Sardinia (like you do!) to pick the missus up (it's a long story!)... So, we Londoners should meet up at the Ace and go for a blast some time eh ?
I ***LOVE*** my new blade!!! Why have I spent so long riding Buells ????? |

| Re: New Blader and member, London I'm in Muswell Hill Twincam, it's a great ride from where I am to the Ace, just a little too short though!
What's the protocol with tank pads on Sports bikes ? Coming from a streetfighter background these things are new to me - is there a "perfect" brand to use or is Hondas own the best ????
;-)
Thanks
Stu |

I've got a Motographix tank pad - Here is one that would suit yours for £16.99 (Ebay item number: 350034363205)
(Mine is in the picture)

| Re: New Blader and member, London Hey Stu,
I dont want to be a killjoy. I recomend you read these posts also. 2008 blade poor finish?!
But an answer to most of this would be that you get your self the best wax/polish in the business and give her a good once over as a protection seal if you want to call it that, then I dont think that you will have any paint problems, I say that because the Orange on my Repsol rims also had a tendancy to rub onto the cloth when I would clean her, but I rubbed some good wax type polish into the rims and I dont have any paint coming off anymore. good luck with her. |

| Re: New Blader and member, London Welcome.
If it's not too late, I would suggest you read the break-in advice given by motoman on the web at mototuneusa.com First few miles are critical, according to him. I am convinced, although many others are not. At least if you read it you can make up your own mind.
Good luck, and enjoy safely! |
