| should i buy a 04 100rr i have always loved hondas... the only bikes ive owned actually. started on f3 then to 900rr and back to f4i. i am currently lookin at buying a 04 1000rr. its price i got it for 6000.00 on ebay. any one know of any problems with the 04 1000rr? my main concern is that all my ridin buds say that the 04 is notorius for bad crank problems especially due to lack of oil when ridin wheelies. my other honda bud had his crank go out and motor lock while ridin wheelies on his 04. i love to do wheelies and hondas r the bike 4 that. anyone that can confirm this assumption or deny it? also any reason why i shouldnt get an 04? man i would really like to smoke my gsxr buds on it but is it capable of competeing with an 01 gsxr 1000? of course my buds that ride gsxrs says it cant and that i should give up on honda. they are also the ones tellin me that the 04 are known 4 having crank problems. help me decide if i should shoot for this 04. its a good price but keep in mind the title is a minor salvage. i seen the pics of it when laid down and there was only dmg to right fairing.... help me soon please i want this bike tommorrow! i also read that they have tach problems too???

| Re: should i buy a 04 100rr I would try to find an 06 or newer 1KRR, that would take care of any 01 GSXR1K.. The 04 can do it too with a few mods.. The 04/05 model is a good bike its just a tad heavy and not as nimble as the 06 and up 1KRR's... It really depends on how the bike was taken care off.. I have heard about the crank issue but never had a problem on my 04 1KRR... |

| Re: should i buy a 04 100rr Done 55,000kms on my 05 blade... that road, track and drag strip kms... Only issue has been reg/rec rotor/stator issues... been changed at 20k and 40 k each time under warranty.... Wheelies are no issue (assuming you are doing them correctly...lol )
Have the 08 blade and loving it, but the 05 is still going strong and its still a great bike to play on. |

| Re: should i buy a 04 100rr The price seems high for that model. The 04,05's are not as well received as the other years (00,01,02,03,06,07,08).
A stretched bike will not be good for wheelies either.
I think there was a place selling brand new heldover 07's for around 8K.
You could either get a 06,07 for around the same money or buy a 954 or 929 and do a few mods like full exhaust, powercommander and gearing and custom dyno tune for the powercommander all for around $1000 if you get the exhaust and powercommander used. |

How could you go wrong with that?
If you plan on riding a lot of wheelies, and wheelies are playing into your buying decision, get a gixxer please. |

| Re: should i buy a 04 100rr well no i havent been around on here long and only been ridin for 3 seasons. i did however get the 04 1000rr and i like it. its my first 1k. i do like doin wheelies so i will have to slide the wheel foreward a little or get another swing arm. any one have a swing arm for a 04 1k rr for sale or trade. ill trde my 4-8 inch extended sliding chrome swing arm or give money. but i do need 1. ill put pics on here of my bike soon and then you can give me feedback on it. i wouldnt mind a gixxer but ive been totally honda faithful and i dont think itll change anytime soon! the bike is a little heavyier than im use to but its still amazing and it IS a honda! need to do a few mods to make it to my full likings. and getting a 1k around here is hard to do 4 less than 6k. and a i found it was a rebuilt title not salvage. dont really know the difference but i plan on keeping it till it is no longer rideable so the rebuilt dont mean much 2 me. thanks 4 all the advice! |
