I have a 1998 xxw blackbird that has developed a noise from the engine when descelerating on the road below about 2000 RPM . It is like a soft mechanical rythmic knock related to engine speed. It can also be re-produced by increasing the revs at idle then shutting the throttle becomming evident as the revs decrease.
I have replaced the clutch basket and adjusted the balance shaft backlash but the noise still persists. It has not got any worse but is allways there noticeably when the oil is warm .
Has anyone experienced this and if so what have been the findings. A friend has a similar age and mileage Blackbird ,when the oil gets really hot you can just hear a feint noise but nothing like my bike.
I would be greatfull for any pointers as it is bugging me now.
