| Hi From South Africa I just bought a new 2009 CBR 1000 RR and what can I say that you guys don’t know already, it’s absolutely a monster of a bike, take note my last bike was a 1900 something fireblade (CBR 900 RR) and I sold it in 2002 to buy a……. now wait for it a touring BMW something 1150 RT and sold that in 2002. Since then haven’t driven a bike till now, and a Blade is just well there is no words to describe that feeling. Well I’m planning a trip in September from Johannesburg to Upington and through the Cape to Durban and back to Johannesburg, about 4500km and I can’t wait. I have a few questions about mounting a Garmin Zumo400 on it, please point me to the correct thread and maybe also what are the essential spares to take with. Great to be here. |

| Re: Hi From South Africa Hi Guys I took it out yesterday to Pretoria for it’s first short run 348km from Secunda to Pretoria and back. It’s running beautifully and with the wife on the back I had no problems with power nor speed. I took it to 210km/h at one stage and there was more than enough power to go faster but the wife started to get uncomfortable. I got to get her a new Helmet….. Well the ride was great and I’m sure the Cape tour will go down without any problems . See Ya On The Wire |

| Re: Hi From South Africa I haven’t been on here for some time now. Just wanna let you guys know that our trip went great and we did 4700km around South Africa without any serious problems. We are planning again a trip for next year and it will be a much longer trip. The only problem that I had on the Blade were a noise on the ABS braking system, and up to this date no dealer could help me, so I was wondering if some of you with a 09 Blade ABS model got the same problem. If you start it and pull the front brake there is no noise but as soon as you start moving and pull the brake it makes a clucking noise like a something is trying to kick in and it sound like it’s coming from under the seat. I had it at the dealer but they did not hear it. The strange thing is it goes away at times. Please let me know if you got the same problem and how to fix it. But back to our trip it was awesome and I can now say that I have found the perfect road for a superbike. If you wanna see how fast your bike can go the perfect road is between Upington and Springbok. If you wanna see how good you are in corners then Ceres is the place there is stunning mountain roads to ride. Below is the picture.
O Yes Almost forgot about it you can go read all about our Biking Holiday at Travel South Africa - Windows Live See Ya On The Wire

| Re: Hi From South Africa Thanks Bonefish, Yeah it was great. We are going in two weeks time down to Durbs for the weekend. It's gonna be great.
I have also put a REMUS pipe on, it sounds great, will see how it perform on the long road.
