| Re: please help the helpless F1 is not a code, its actually the FI indicator light, signaling you that the ecu has found something wrong.
What bike is this?
929/954s will have a red light on the dash blinking. |

| Re: please help the helpless Have the bike in neutral and on its kickstand, if the light doesnt blink, you need to reset the ecu to retrieve the FI code.
Under the seat, by the battery is a brown connector that goes nowhere, with the ignition on, short it and see if the light blinks. |

| Re: please help the helpless thats the code for the exhaust/flapper servo motor.
While sitting on the bike, it is on the left side, underneath the seat near where the tank mounts to the subframe. It is a black motor, with plastic internals.
It rotates between 0,90, 180 degrees, changing the position on the HTEV and the airbox flapper.
Most importantly, do you still have the valve in your exhaust?
It is between the headers and midpipe, cant miss it. |

| Re: please help the helpless Two bros pipe as in slip -on or full exhaust?
No, you dont need to remove the tank.
Squat by the seat, and slide your hand up underneath on the left.
If nothing if there, that means it has been removed (obviously, lol!), and thats why you have the code. |

If its a full system, its probably been eliminated.
If its there, it could just mean the servo has stripped the internal cogs and is now throwing an error code.

| Re: please help the helpless also, does the red light need to be on in order to short out the brown wire to get the error code? because right now, because it only comes on infrequently, my red light is not on. also, my FI light goes off now when i start it. the FI light only comes on when i'm on the road accelerating hard. from that point on, it stays on until i turn the bike off. |

| Re: please help the helpless sounds like the teeth are on there way out, easy test..left hand side near side stand, chrome cover two cables going in, remove cover and try to rotate wheel by hand if to stiff try spanner if it feels tight take it apart and clean it up, but first remove exhaust servo note were cables go, then strip servo down, chances are the centre cog will be stripped. if it is there is a way out...can tell you if need be. Rick..... |

| Re: please help the helpless ok, here are three pictures of the area you refer to about the chrome piece with two wires protruding from that i need to check. however, i cannot find this piece? am i looking for it in the wrong place? or do i need to get my lenses re-filled? i'm probably blind but, hell, i'm having fun just being an idiot. i live above a honda dealership here and they only deal in motocross and enduro bikes. i explained to them the piece we need to find and we looked everywhere but, to no avail. let me apologize before hand and point out that i am not that mechanically bright...as you can tell. |

| Re: please help the helpless hi frank...right if look at the bottom of the belly pan start from the side stand go about ten inches towards the front of the bike. you will see chrome cover with two cables coming from the right of it. you only need to undo two bolts to get at it. If itsnot there you must have a full aftermarket system on. if this is the case then you will need to remove tank...tou can just lean it on the right hand side then you dont need to undo fiel pipes. undo top of airbox and check the cable from flapper to servo is working. if it has snaped replce it and then still take servo apart to check cogs ok. another tip is to turn on ignition you will hear pump prime...if you then hear a whinning sound turn the servo till sound stops if it does its a good bet servo is shagged. let me know how you get on...Rick. |

I hope you don't let this guy ever work on your bike.

| Re: please help the helpless thanks guys! i especially appreciate the pictures, and the thorough descriptions you provided.
on a side note: the honda guys down here can take an enduro or motocross engine apart with there eyes close. and in fact they do it everyday, all day long. but they have never worked on a cbr before, nor have they ever driven one before. its a little remote here. well, it's a third world country. people ask me all the time how many cylinders my cbr has. they're shocked to find out it has four. in fact, many people don't believe it. because of taxes here, a new cbr costs $22,000 US dollars new. consider this: my wage down here is $200 a month. that's what 90% of dominicans are making so, a CBR is about as foreign as a UFO. so no, as qualified as they are to work on any single cylinder enduro or motocross engine, they wouldn't know a thing about a four cylinder bike, much less the purpose of a servo motor which, i myself do not understand. 99% of all bikes down here are between 50cc or 125cc. the .09% are 250cc and 450cc, and maybe .01% are liter-class bikes. life is crazy down here: donkeys and horses and thousands of dogs line the highways, particulary on the north coast of the island which is where i am at. dead dogs litter the highways and roads. i myself have never hit one on a bike, thank god, but, i know plenty of people who have and have the scars to prove it. i've come close hitting horses on several occassions, barely missing them at night, on an island that has no street lights!!

What's the road fatality toll like?
