| Mystery - pls help ! Hello. I am new member of the forums ,from Australia . I Own a 2001 CBR 929 that can not start. I'm mechanically minded so fixing most things isn't too much of a problem but this is issues has me stumped. The issue: my motor turns over - if a spray fuel straight into the motor via the trumpets ( velocity stacks) it will run , so I'm guessing that the coils , ECM , crank sensor , cam pulse generator ,are all working fine. my battery is also fine giving over 11.60V when cranking or 12.20 v when the bike is off. My fuel pump primes when the key is turned and seems that it is giving enough pressure to the rail ( I loosened the mail fuel hose and it sprayed everywhere ) I have checked all the fuses and can hear the relay activate and as i stated b4 , the fule pump does prime ( although recently I have had to turn the key a few times b4 it would activate , not sure if this is now a new prob from screwing around) It would appear the injectors do not want to open. can it be a faulty ECM or a fuel pressure drop that I can't detect. Could it be some other electrical issue?
Please help |

| Re: Mystery - pls help ! Do you have a fuel injector module (power commander, etc) on there? I had the power commander on my VTX go out, and the same sort of thing happened. I also had a wire break going to the ECU that did the same thing. At least that gives you 2 places to look. If you do have a power commander (or similar) disconnect it and see if your problem still exists. |

| Re: Mystery - pls help ! Thanx for your reply . I don't have a power commander but the faulty wire may be something I need to look at . I know that a high pressured cleaned my bike 1 week b4 my ride and the water got into the lighting harness and stopped the lights from working ( now clean and working) I have checked the harness and it seems ok |

| Re: Mystery - pls help ! The fuel pump regulator is all good . I checked the power to the injector and it shows 11.30 v ..so it's getting power . I tried starting the bike and noticed no fuel being passed through the injector. This doesn't make sense . if the pump is priming and I have pressure in the rail , power to the injectors and everything else is working, than why isn't any fuel going through. I have no error codes on the dash. Ps . I have checked all my connections again . I run a standard ECM too. This time I poured enough fuel into the cylinders to drown a small cat and it not only started on that fuel, but I could rev it without any probs…until it ran out. Fuk this I’m buying a Vespa. |

Seriously though, it sounds like either a physical problem with the injectors or still ECU (I know that I sound like a broken record on that one). On the other hand, have you checked to make sure that your fuel lines are good? Maybe there is a blockage in the fuel line going to the injectors, and not letting any fuel into them. (just a guess) |

| Re: Mystery - pls help ! Some wooly guesses:
Your checking logic has covered a lot and is good. So I am assuming good ignition and compression since you can start it so it is 100% fuel. You have pressure at the rail so at a minimum it should weze gas even if things were to low. I doubt you have a clogged injector or lines as there is more than one and your symptoms affect all of them. So I am left with injector activation. Not only that but something that effects all of them. I don't have a 929 book but have you checked for ECU codes? If someone has a book what is the diagnostics for no injectors (my CBR1000RR has a section I think)? I would focus on that as I think your other logic is sound and not all injectors would go bad at once.

| Re: Mystery - pls help ! I connected the ECM plug ( jump wire ) as by the book ,to see if I get any error codes in the memory . it came up with 2 codes : 1 being 3 injectors the other ;cam pulse sensor. im not sure if these codes are correct. does any one know what the pulse sensor does..does it regulate correct injector opening when piston is on intake stroke ,or does it helping the cranck angle sensor in relation to timing advance .Also , of it was a rail pressure or injector issues ..why was the bike working fine, no reving issues or idiling ..then nothing. |
